Behind closed doors the children sleep,
Lost in sweet dreams. There they won't weep
About the pain they've made it past-
There's no fear that sweetness won't last
Because their fantasies will keep
Fresh through the day. They'll count their sheep,
Desperate to make that long leap
And join up with a brighter cast
Behind closed doors.
So remember that you must creep
Silently by. Don't make a peep
Or the fun worlds that they've amassed
Will shatter. Please do as I've asked
And do not wake dreamers asleep
Behind closed doors.

A Rondeau is a French form, 15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows: aabba aabR aabbaR. Lines 9 and 15 are short - a refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one. The other lines are longer (but all of the same metrical length).
