New York City, New YorkSpy Rule #42: Always be able to protect yourself
"Wake up you dumb bitch," said the Wicked Witch of the North. Acually it was the owner of the orphanage I currently reside in, but there isn't much difference I've come to learn. My eyes pop open and Ms.Lily was leaning over my bed, glaring at me.
She said "Wake up you waste of space. You are going to be late for school."
She doesn't say anything else, because she doesn't actually care if I get up and go to school the only reason she puts effort into that is because she required to by law. Instead of throwing more insults at me she just turns around and walks out of the room. I roll over to look at my alarm to try and figure out why it didn't go off, but when I looked at the night stand my alarm clock should have been sitting there was nothing but empty space. I stare at the empty spaced puzzled until I hear laughter coming from the door way. I turn to look to see who was laughing and when I do I see the wicked witch of the East standing there and her name is Alexis. Alexis is the queen bee of this orphanage or as I like to call her Ms. Lily junior. She says to me "Oh poor Jasmine. Did you alarm clock not go off?"
Of course she is the one who messed with my alarm clock. She has had it out for me ever since I got here ten years ago and as we've gotten older she has gotten more mean and bitter. Most likely due to the fact that no one has adopted her bitter ass, but the older you get the chances of being adopted decrease and once you are a teenager it is almost impossible to get adopted. I suddenly pulled from my thoughts from a smashing sound. My eyes shot up at Alexis and at her feet is my alarm clock, smashed to pieces which I know I will get blamed later for the mess. All I can do is sigh since it my third alarm clock of the month. Alexis then smirks at me as she turns and leaves my room. I just let her go, because I use to fight back but in the end it would just make it worse for me so with another sigh I roll out of bed and get ready for my next hell, school.
Once I finally get to school I head straight for my locker. I get my books out that I am going to need for the day and begin walking to my first class. When I was younger I took some tests and apparently did really well which meant that I am extremely smart so I got placed in all Advance Placement classes which I get all A's in. I move from class to class with the occasional shove, name calling, and smacking of text books out of my hands, which is a typical day for me. Even with being bullied all day, the day still went pretty fast. The final bell rings and I scurry to my locker throwing my books in there as fast as I can so I can get out of the building as fast as I can so I can evade my tormentors.
As I start walking home from school, I notice a black suburban following me. I also notice a man in a suit following shortly behind me. I reach into my backpack and pull out some pepper spray and slide it into the sleeve of my sweatshirt. I keep walking and making random turns to see if the suburban and the man would keep following me and to my dismay both kept following. I start to get a little panicked. I don't know how to handle a situation like this, usually its just Alexis bullying me. I decide to keep making random turns in hope of either losing them or they make a different one because they aren't actually following me.
After about my fifth random turn the man starts jogging towards me and says "Excuse me Miss, can you help me?"
I stopped walking and turned around. I say "Yes sir, how can I help?"
While I am talking to the man I put my hand into my pocket and popped the lid off of the pepper spray. The man then asks "Do you know..."
Before he could finish what he was saying I sprayed him with pepper spray right into his eyes. I then proceeded to knee him in the stomach. While he was hunched over in pain I take my chance to turn and run. The car came screeching up and two men jumped out. One grabbed me and the other one injected me with something. I let out a blood curling scream, but there was no one around to help me. I tried to wiggle out of the mans grasp but I got more and more tired with each passing second. There wasn't anything left I could do. The men dragged me to the car. Right before I was thrown in I was blind folded. Once the blind fold was securely over my eyes I was thrown into the car. The doors slammed shut and we sped off. Not to long after I passed out.
