As soon as I got inside, the building went on lockdown. I rushed to the bathroom and hid in one of the stalls as I heard the sound of a freshly polished blade being sheathed and unsheathed. A couple more kids hid in the bathroom with me, as per protocol.
"What the hell is going on?" One of them whispered.
"I don't know, but let me block the door." I whispered back, moving towards the door.
Outside, I heard heavy footsteps along with the sound of doors being busted open. The footsteps sounded closer with each step. The footsteps stopped right in front of the door. I jumped backwards to avoid being hit by the door when it came crashing inward.
"Sir, is this the girl you were looking for?" A tall, bulky man spoke, holding his sword in his left hand. He had blood all over his black hoodie.
Another tall man with similar features came up behind him, holding a piece of paper, looking back and forth from it to me.
"Yep. That's the one. Grab her so we can go. That Hunter kid is starting to piss me off."
"Yes, sir." The first man began to approach me, but I just pulled out my sword and held it firmly in front of me.
"Touch me and your blood will be spewed all over the floor." I said, feeling my eyes shift to reveal my Sharingan. A relative of mine had it and passed it down to me.
The man just laughed. The one behind him also started laughing. The two students behind me had peered over to see what was going on. By this point, the men had stopped laughing.
"Toshiro isn't the only Hunter in this school..." I said, forming a powerful aura around my blade. "...I'm one of the strongest."
The first man came running at me, but I blocked his attack and forced one of my signature spikes into his abdomen. He shrieked in pain, but a few seconds later, was as silent as a still breeze.
"Told you." I said, towards the other guy. He just looked at my arm. I got confused and also looked at my arm. My marking was glowing red. I guess I didn't notice in the heat of the battle.
The man I was facing just stared at my glowing mark for a moment before speaking.
"The prophecy... you... hah..." His brain seemed to snap as he leaned against the wall behind him and slid onto the floor. "The boss's chosen one... he'll be so proud when I bring you to him..."
"Let's see who the fates favor in this very moment. You.." I waved my blade inches away from his face. "...or me."
He stood up and a small ball of flames appeared over his palm. He aimed and threw it at me. Of course, my amazing reflexes made me dodge it. I created a ball of lightning in my hand and threw it at him. He didn't have enough time to dodge it, so it hit him right in the side. He coughed blood and fell over, clutching his stricken spot.
At that moment, Toshiro came running around the corner and stopped in the doorway, caught in a panicked haze. Once he saw me, he calmed down a bit, but I could tell his heart was still pounding.
"You're... huff... okay..." He said, trying to catch his breath.
"Mhm. You seem to be injured, though. Here, let me help." I walked over to him, carefully stepping over the semi-conscious guy on the floor. I gently took Toshiro's hand and led him to the line of sinks that had been lightly 'painted' red. I turned the dial and the faucet began slowly gushing warm water. I placed his hand under the water, washed away some of the dried blood, then took it out.
I peeled a paper towel off of the roll, quickly dampened it, then shut the water off. I gently wiped away some of the excess blood to clear the wound.
"Thanks, Jessi..." He said, then turned his head to look at the other kids who had been there the whole time. They waved at him, so he hesitantly waved back.
"We should really get out of here. We don't know how many more there are." I said, letting go of his hand. The wound had fully healed; it looked better than new.
"Ugh... stop right... there..." The guy that had been laying on the floor was now standing, clutching his side, holding his hand out in front of him.
"Oh, he's still alive..." I sighed. I looked over at Toshiro just as he looked at me. I nodded to him, then began to slowly back away towards the stalls. The guy just looked at us in confusion.
After a few seconds, the guy had fallen to the floor, lifeless. Fighting could still be heard in the hallways, so I grabbed Toshiro's arm and ran out.
"We need to get home before something else happens. Where did Jei say he was going?"
"Uhh, I don't remember." He said, trying to keep pace with my speed.
"We need to find Hikaru and get out of here. So much for being normal."
"I don't know why these things keep happening. Maybe we're cursed or something." He said, pausing to catch his breath.
