I jolted upwards from the sheets as my heart raced. I looked over at the clock, 2:22 AM. Just great. I stood up and walked over to the door. I placed my hand on the handle. I quickly jumped back, holding my pulsing hand. 'What the hell...' I thought, then went back to the door and placed my hand on the handle once more.
This time, the handle seemed normal. I turned it and the door opened. 'Huh... that was odd. Maybe it was my imagination...?' I walked down the hallway and noticed Toshiro's door was open. I peeked my head inside and saw him standing next to his nightstand with his arm out, seeming upset about something.
I walked over to him, now seeing a small pile of spikes next to him. He was trying to make them go away, it seems.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah... it's just, I'm weakening. I can't even make these disappear."
I patted him on the back and waved my hand in front of the spikes, which made them vanish. He sighed and sat down on his bed.
"I just... I can't be losing my abilities, can I? I mean, I'm an Amagi. We can't lose the thing that makes us strong.."
I could feel his pain. My abilities make me who I am.
"I know how you feel. I've been feeling the same, recently. I may have an idea on how to get your abilities back."
"Wait, really?" He looked at me with much excitement.
I nodded, held out my hand and began speaking in the old language of Beasts. Only I could understand it, and when you speak it, you can use any spell or any magic. I was using a portal spell, to a very restricted location.
An orange portal opened up right in front of us, I stepped through and he followed, then the portal closed. A place of pure magic and pure energy.
"I didn't know you could do that." He said.
I turned to look at him, then gave him a soft smile.
"There's a lot you don't know, I plan to keep it that way."
I pointed at a small spring with water that seemed to pour from the sky.
"Go in that spring. Your abilities should show up soon after you've dipped under the mystic water."
He walked over to the spring and just stood under the pouring water. His skin began to glow, then went back to normal. I opened the portal again, but he just got confused.
"How are you able to make a portal here, but can't make one that leads home?" His eyes shifted in confusion as he said that.
"Magic is complicated." I replied. "A portal back to our world will be very difficult to make. It will require a lot of precision, and even then it's not a guarantee that it will lead home."
He finally nodded in understanding, then walked through the portal. I followed, sealing the portal quickly behind me. I sighed a sigh of relief, then went to turn the TV on. It was a boring news channel, so I pushed a button and it went to something more interesting. Toshiro walked up behind me and looked over at the TV.
"Hey, isn't that–"
"Yeah...it is." I replied. On the TV, the screen displayed a world that resembled ours. I looked at the channel guide. The title said "Spirit Rise". I examined the characters, they looked just like our friends. I had a theory once, that every anime was a universe. This proves my theory correct. On this Earth, every universe is an anime. I've been through a lot of them...I wonder if anyone will know.
The channel was a secret one, we just happened to come across it at the right time.
"Do they know..?" I said, looking directly at the characters. "Do you think my voice will appear if I call them?"
I'm always up for trying new things. Plus, it would be nice to hear them again. We decided against it and decided to just go to bed. I told him to sleep well as he was walking to his room. After he closed the door, I went into my room and closed the door. 'School tomorrow is gonna suck..'
