Athena hit the ground with a hard thud before rolling a few times from the intensity of the explosion. She felt a sharp sting in her left leg and looked down to see blood seeping from a small wound due to landing on a rock in the harsh landing.
Her ears rang, and she groaned, holding her head as she looked around-- she had taken the harshest blow from her proximity to the explosion.
She heard the groans of those around her and looked up to see the still ongoing war above her.
To Athena's side, ZhenZhen helped Alex get up while Gabriel grabbed her shoulder and helped her stand and steady herself.
"What's going on?" Dariush asked, looking around.
Athena breathed heavily as she looked at the jets above them before furrowing her eyes when she saw something falling from the sky.
She tapped on Gabriel's shoulder-- far too shocked to speak-- pointing up, while ZhenZhen seemed to be doing the same to Alex after she also took notice of the falling object.
They all yelled simultaneously as they ran in the opposite direction, but again, they weren't fast enough as the impact sent them flying forward onto the ground-- luckily, it wasn't as painful as the first time.
"What is that?" Dariush yelled, coughing.
"It's a Dragon Capsule," Alex said, running towards it.
They followed while Gabriel asked, "How do you know all this stuff?"
"There's a reason my mom sent me to outdoor camp."
"Oh, God, that thing's huge," Dariush said.
Athena, slowly smiling, turned to ZhenZhen.
"That's what she said," She muttered to the girl, resulting in ZhenZhen smiling amusedly.
Gabriel stalked closer to the capsule, putting his hand out--
"No, no, no--! Don't touch it-- Dude!"
"Ow!" Gabriel hissed, backing away and cupping his hand.
"It's still hot from re-entry!"
"Does anyone have any water?" Dariush asked.
Alex nodded, "Good idea."
ZhenZhen reached into her bag, handing her bottom to Dariush. Instead of doing what they all thought, he brought the bottle to his lips, beginning to chug it.
"You serious?" Gabriel asked in disbelief.
"What?"
"Give me it," Athena huffed, snatching the bottle from Dariush's hands. She walked to the capsule door, drenching it in the cold water from the bottle, listening to the sizzle that came with it.
"You're not gonna open that thing, are you?" Dariush asked.
"There could be someone inside," Gabriel said, watching Dariush with an annoyed expression.
"No-- leave it be! All right? We don't know what this shit is," Dariush walked to the capsule, stood in front of the door, and gathered up some of the black goo outside the pod. "This is animal kingdom out here, bitches. All right, survival of the fit-- "
The door popped off suddenly, hitting Dariush in the back of the head, sending him flying forward.
"Hello? Is... is anybody in here?" Gabriel asked, speaking into the darkness of the pod.
They all inched closer, and Athena was about to stick her head into the pod when a hand came protruding out of the dark hole.
Screaming, they took a step back.
