Chapter Five.

Saturday.

Justice could hardly contain his excitement as he drove to Tyler's house. The day before, they discussed him coming to get Ilani in full detail.

The plan was that he'd come pick her up around two in the afternoon so that they could make it to the 2:30 showing of The Little Mermaid. From there, they'd go get ice cream and then he'd drop her back off at home. It was simple but he hoped that they had fun together.

Luckily, Mrs.Bennett allowed Justice to use her car since she was off of work today.

"Turn left onto Silver Trace Road. In 500 feet, your destination will be on the right."  Siri said, directing him through the neighborhood.

Justice followed the directions that he was given before pulling up to the familiar, decently sized home.

It used to be Tyler's grandmother's home but she passed away a few years back and left the house to her only granddaughter, which was of course Ty.

Justice remembered the many of times he would  sneak through her window at night when they were in high school, but that's a different story for a different day.

He parked along the street, before getting out. Justice made his way up the driveway and walked the short pathway that led to the front door. Raising his fist, he knocked three times.

Seconds later, he could hear the locks undoing and the door slowly opening. Behind the door was Tyler, dressed simply in a light pink tank top and yoga pants. Her hair was up in a slightly messy ponytail.

"Hey Tyler." He spoke simply.

"Hey. Hold on, I'll go get her." She stated, leaving him standing at the door awkwardly.

About a minute later, he could hear feet approaching. Yanking the door wider, there stood Ilani.

"Hiii." She waved, a small smile on her face.

"Wassup, twin." Justice smiled as well. "You ready to go to the movies?"

"Yes!" She nodded eagerly.

"Aight, bet. C'mon." He nodded his head to the side in a 'let's go' motion. "I should have her back home before six." Justice said, now averting his attention to Tyler.

"Okay, that's fine." She nodded.

"Bye mommy!" Ilani said, giving her a hug.

"Bye sweetface, have a good time!" Tyler hugged her back, bending down to kiss her cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too." The young girl exclaimed, before exiting the house with Justice right behind her.

She'd been itching to see the new Little Mermaid film, especially because Halle Bailey was her idol.

As Lani skipped down the driveway and headed towards the car, Justice hit the unlock button on the remote. He then went and opened the passenger side door for her.

A slight gasp left his daughter's lips. "I get to sit in the front?"

"Yeah, why not." Justice shrugged.

"Finally! My momma doesn't allow me to sit in the front when I'm in the car with her." Ilani rolled her eyes, hopping in the seat.

She felt like her mother often treated her like a baby, which she hated. Ilani considered herself to be a big girl.

"Well, when you in the car with me you can." Justice stated before closing the door and going around the front of the car to his side. He didn't see what the problem was with Lani sitting in the front. She was old enough and tall enough, being that she took height after him.
