Goal 1 : Unwanted Letter

"Utsu-chan, uhm, there's a letter for you. It was delivered yesterday. From the Japan Football Union." Ueyama Miko nervously told his son who's peacefully eating dinner, as she holds the said letter. His father was out drinking and getting drunk. Miko took the responsibility to raise the only child in the house.

Ueyama Utsusu, a 17 year old boy, studying in Namikaze Koukou. He looked up from his bowl with his dark hue, cold eyes- staring at the letter.

"... I told you, I am quitting football. Why the hell are you still pushing this to me?"

Miko swallowed her saliva. "Utsu-chan, I've known you ever since you're a child.. you like- love football. What were those days when you trained hard for? If this is about Rubi-chan's death-"

"All my efforts were for her!" He yelled.

Utsusu pants and tried to cope up with his breathing. His mother was in shock and couldn't even utter a word, afraid things would get worse if she had said more. "All of that.. were for her, playing football were for her, not mine. She's gone, what's the point of playing.." Utsusu stood up from his seat and took the letter from his mother's hands who stood there, unable to spout one word.

"I'll take this if it makes you feel better." He then left his mother's presence.

"Goodnight."

He leaned on his study table, head hung low as he looked at the letter in front of him on his desk.

"Soccer won't let me take a break, huh?"

He doesn't know when it started, but everywhere he goes, it's like he's been haunted by football. Like a soccer ball rolling in front of him, the soccer field he usually passes by when going home, all those sorts.

Promising he'd never ever play again, ever, but there's this empty feeling in his heart and he knew that it's because of the death of his girlfriend. Hotaru Rubi.

She was the sweetest, the loudest, the cheeri-est and the lovable girlfriend Utsusu could ever ask for. He needed her by his side when he ruled the whole soccer career. He wanted her by his side.

That aside, he never wanted to even think about it for even a second. Entertaining that kind of thoughts could only hurt him, soccer reminded him of her.

But..

He picked up the letter and ripped the wrapper open. He pulled the piece of paper inside out. Flipping the paper open, he saw his name on the top left and continued to read.

"Certified Athlete. Pfsh, what are they on about? I lost in the last match I've had." Utsusu continued to read before crumpling the paper and threw it in his trash bin.
