Goal 23: Incompatible pair

The members of team Z gathered together to eat and catch up. Like usual Ueyama sat by Bachira and since the Sunshine pulled him beside him. The group is composed of Raichi, Gagamaru, Igaguri, Chigiri, Isagi, Bachira and Ueyama.

The rowdy trio was yelling as they ate and ate as much as they wanted. According to Igaguri, he got every single thing since this is probably their last night that they could get to eat something delicious like this– and that he deserved it.

Team Z talked among each other as the brunet was silent, thinking about a certain emerald head. He's paired up with that bullshit guy and is a damn red flag. Plus, he seemed dangerous to every human kind, actually. Ueyama just doesn't want to admit it but he's a bit fond of Rin by now and with Shidou being his pair, putting what he almost did to Isagi, it almost made his chopsticks snap.

"I still can't believe you're a runner-up." Raichi said as he stared at the silent fellow.

"Maybe you mean you should've expected it?"

Raichi irked at the remark. "Like as if! I'd be more accurate if you were in last place!" And as if the brunet cared, he rolled his eyes as he continued to eat.

Bachira noticed his strange demeanor but didn't question it. The team Z then talked about the upcoming U-20 national team match and the team pair they are going to join in.

"I'll just pick randomly after all. It doesn't matter who I get to play with." Bachira thought. "How about you, Chigirin?"

"Haven't really decided yet.. Ue?"

They all turned to the silent one. "Ue-chan?"

"Ah, you guys were saying?"

"We were asking which team you're going to choose." Bachira repeated.

"Team A." Ueyama said plainly. "I see, I see. So you're going to stick with Rin-chan."

"I have other reasons. It's just a feeling actually." The brunet sat upright and reached for his other food. "Okay! Isagi?" Bachira continued.

"Uhm, I don't know yet."

"It's either Team A or team C right? You get to bet on your own abilities and unsurpassed potentials on Rin-chan's, or spark a lot of chemical reactions with Nagi with your own weapon." Bachira guessed Isagi's thought.

"Yeah.."

In the first team's shared room, with Ueyama and Bachira in the room, the Sunshine thought it's the best time to ask him what's been going on about him lately.

Both of them were sitting down on his bed just to enjoy each other's presence. Bachira slowly leaned on the still brunet, "Ue-chan?" Golden eyes looked up. "Yeah?"

"What's wrong? You've been silent lately."

Ueyama thought for a moment and his face darkened. ".. It's about the Shidou guy. He's paired up with Rin, I have a bad feeling about this." Golden eyes blinked a few times at the change of Ueyama's attitude towards Rin. "Ah, so you do care about Rin!"

The realization made the brunet sick to the bone. "Sunshine.. please don't phrase it like that.."

"I mean, no matter how I think about it, it's like you really care about Rin. Then, do you have other reason?" The Sunshine was ready to listen to whatever troubles him. "It's the whole existence of that dog, particularly. If he does anything bad to Rin, creating the team of eleven would be hard and the chance to win would drop, Blue Lock would disappear and our names will be sullied. That's the worst actually."
