"I'm going now." I tiredly announced. I kissed them both on the cheeks and went to the door.Last night, I've never blinked. I just stared at the ceiling until daylight came. I want to go out and stroll the streets but I can't. Too scared to encounter bad guys. I can't even defend myself. I've never studied any martial arts.
I stepped outside the door and breathed in the morning air, feeling the air being sipped by the pores of skin. My hair was blown sideways, following the direction of the wind.
I can't wait to start this day with-
"GOODNESS GRACIOUS!" I ran back to the house when my skin was burnt from the sun. First, I haven't eaten dinner last night. Then, I couldn't sleep that night. This morning, I don't feel like eating breakfast. And now, I can't go out in daylight! I mean, what happened to me?! Wait, I forgot something. I WAS BURNED IN THE SUN YESTERDAY!
Oh, must be puberty.
"Craeslilale?" Grandma walked out of the house and was shocked when I was just standing here. "Aren't you going to school?" I sheepishly smiled at her. Staring at those eyes, I gulped down, knowing I have to give a white lie.
"Uhmm..." I thought for a good excuse to make it look convincing. "I forgot I was suspended?" I answered unsure. I never got suspended, that's for sure. Suspension is the only thing that I should be proud of, considering I've been a lazy student for coming to school late, always ended up in Detention.
Grandma looked shocked at what I just said, no, more like asked. "Suspended?" I nodded and crossed my fingers from behind, hoping it would work. "John, call-"
I quickly shook my head. "No! It was just a joke." I scratched my head at a poor excuse I gave. Yep, a joke.
"Jokes are half meant, child." Grandma commented, giving me a look of concern. Touching my cheeks all of the sudden. I looked up from my shoes and sighed.
I forgot she could call the school.
Grandma crossed her arms at her chest and stomped her foot, waiting for me to explain. "Well, uhm.. I can't go to school without finishing my project, so... I'll just go upstairs and finished it." I explained to her, forcing a smile. Slowly walking upstairs, grandma just at the end of the stairs, looking up at me.
"Okay." I couldn't believe grandma bought my excuse. Well, that was a pretty lame excuse. A lie, I guess.
White lie.
I couldn't tell my grandparents about, not being able to step up during daylight. I mean, that was abnormal. I couldn't tell them if I was still unsure of myself. Normal people don't get burn when sunlight hits them. I'll tell them when the right time comes, when I could explain to them detail by detail. I'll tell them when I know what sickness or disease am I having.
I was about to shut my room when I heard a faint screeched of a car.
Don't tell me it's William.
"Good morning Mrs. Xertex, is Craeslilale inside?" Oh no, he's here. My plan will be ruined!
I dashed towards the stairs and quickly grabbed William's hand.
"...project?" William's confused look made grandma confused too.
"Oh William! It's nice to see you! Come on, we need to finish our project." William maybe got the picture when he laughed. He scratched his auburn hair, acting like he forgot.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." I faced grandma and smiled. "Don't worry grandma. I texted him to come here and help me with my project." I dragged William upstairs before grandma could even say something.
