I held my breathe as I waited for him to punch me again. "Youre weak." he yelled, as another blow to my ribcage landed. "Youll amount to nothing if you keep this up, fucking pathetic." the alcohol on his breathe lingered in the air. I laid there and accepted each blow. You learn early on that fighting back will only ever make things worse.

I slowly exhaled trying not to make a sound, noise only angered him more. He likes when you submit, he likes to act as if he is an alpha but he will never amount to be one. Someone at work pissed him off again. I winced as another blow from his foot landed on my back.

"Fuck, im out of beer. Make yourself useful for once and get me another one." He threw the empty can at my face. It collided but didnt hurt as much as my ribcage did. I inhaled as much air as my body could handle and forced myself up. "Hurry the fuck up will ya?!?" He shoved me towards the kitchen as he threw himself onto the couch. I staggered my way to the fridge and pulled a can out of the fridge. I went back and handed it to him. "Now get the fuck out of my presence, you disgust the hell out of me. Why the moon goddess left me with you instead of your mother is beyond me. She made the worst mistake ever." he curved his lip up and furrowed his brows together in digust.

Without saying a word i slowly made my way to my room. I closed and locked the door behind me. I took my clothes off and investigated the damage to my body in my tall mirror. It wasnt the worst, will have some very black bruises by tomorrow. Exhaling i opened my window and let the cool breeze send shivers down my aching spine. My wolf whined as she wanted to go for a run but we were in too much pain for that tonight.

"Dear moon goddess, please end my suffering." i whispered to the moon. I say the same thing every night, but she never answers me. It was like she meant for me to suffer, this was her plan. He'll kill me one of these days anyway, i dont understand why she doesnt end me or him for that matter. Why do i need to live for this? Is this even living? 'No' my wolf cried. She wanted to be free. There was nothing i could do to help her though. I was hopeless.

"One day well get out of here. Whether its through death or because we actually manage to escape.. We will get out of here." I promised her and the moon goddess. Leaving my window open i curled into my bed and staired into the abyss until my eyes fluttered closed.

"Shes gone." the familiar yet unfamiliar voice said out loud.

"What the hell do you mean shes gone?? She just up and left me with her child?!?! How could she do that to me." he panicked. "Whyd she take the others with her and leave me with sarah?!" his voice was getting louder and louder. I hid behind the stair railing, listening.

"We will search for her brother, but her trail went dead cold. The best trackers of the pack couldnt even pick up on your families sent." my uncle tried to soothe him. My father let out a loud scream, his wolf crying in betrayal of his mate taking everything except me and leaving. My father curled into a ball and cried. Ive never seen him so weak. He was tall and strong, he was our world.

"Sarah honey, you should be in bed." My aunt came up the stairs and made eye contact with me.

"Is mommy gone forever?" the tears started crashing down from my little face. "Will mommy come back?" i started sobbing and trembling. She was my world.

"Shhh lets get you to bed honey." my aunt picked up my little 5 year old body.

"IS IT HER FAULT?" i heard him scream at the top of his lungs as he made eye contact with me. "WHY IS SHE THE ONLY ONE OUT OF THE 5 KIDS?" his voice shaking the house.

"Daddy..." I whimpered.

My eyes snapped opened as my nightmares of my mother leaving replayed in my head. My body covered in sweat even though it was freezing. The falls leaves blew as the wind danced by. I grabbed my phone, reading the time. I needed to be at school by 9am, i had 4 hours to kill. He was probably still passed out on the couch. I quietly packed my school bag, and a changed of clothes. I grabbed a quick shower and got dressed. I slowly made my way down the stairs and out the back door. It was always my safest route. Waking him would result a beating, sometimes even a stabbing.
