I tence up with the adrenaline rushing through me and push Micha to the wall with the window behind me, waking him up. He can hear the scratching too. I walk over to the door, grabbing my bat and making my way over slowly and quietly. I'm ready to swing at the noise on the ground as I open the door. I'm surprised at the small black kitten on the floor that is stumbling as it walks over to Micha and falls asleep on his other hoodie next to him. I  look at the sky from between the boards, it's almost 7 in the morning. Myself and Micha get ready to travel to the next crap town over today. Micha puts on his summer shorts and t-shirt, then his hoodie and sweats, his maroon winter jacket and navy hat. I go through the same process with my shorts and t- shirt first, then my Adidas sweat pants and my high school football sweater and no winter attire, as I only thought of Micha's comfort when we left home.

"Grab your bags and start packing the sleeping bag and our extra clothes," I say as I walk to the kitchen with my bag to grab yesterday's haul of food. I then go into the bathroom and grab as many toothbrushes and other products I can fit in the one small front pocket. I tell Micha to wait at the door as I go through the back and check the shed for a bat or something for him. Nothing. As I walk back to Micha I see him holding the kitten in a old tote bag and the generator in the other.

"Laura can we please, pretty, please keep her," he says.
" if you take care of her, take responsibility and keep her quiet, then, yes, you can,".

I love when his face lights up. He always has had these cute dimples and crooked front teeth, I always thought his smile was adorable and sweet when he didn't fake it. Micha had stuffed the tote bag with spare blankets, pillows, and clothes that could comfort the cat, we could use the extra comforts when we settle down again.

It was now 8 AM and time to move to another town. I walked in front as to see what could lie ahead and if I needed to cover Micha's eyes from a dead body or feasting monster, as both could be too much for him. The next 4 miles we had walked we're on a high way that would bring us to a older, and fancy hotel. I had known where the hotel was since we had stayed there before, but we weren't going to stay there for long. I had to check cars for supplies, so far I had found a new backpack in a navy blue for Micha and a small pocket knive for each of us, the only other thing I found was a bottle of aspirin in a glove box that could be important if one of us was hurt, that I had pocketed.
The hotel was within sight and I can see one of the monsters grotesque bodies with a pool of its green, neon blood spilling from a beam that had been sharpened and thrusted into the monsters chest. Below it, as i approached, was a small puddle that collected the blood and mixedwith the waterinside. These monsters are mostly a dark forest green color with glowing eyes of white, but sometimes, dependingon how dangerous, or their different abilities, they could be red or purple. Red monsters were just a bit stronger than the green ones and the purple ones were the strongest. All of the monsters I have come across have twisted bodies in a sort of human or animal form, they look like they try to mimic the human race and the animals around them, but they can stretch their body parts a span of 4 feet. I have notebooks full of the information that I have collected on these monsters through the year.
I walk past the grotesque monster, holding Micha's hand and throwing a rock from the crumbling side walk at the monster to prove it dead. Me and Micha walk inside the broken glass doors, we're not planning to stay for long after we find directions or a map.
I walk to the back of the kitchen through the beige and red scheme walls while Micha eats some of the chips out of my backpack on the common room couch. The kitchen looked ransacked and empty when i opened the door. As I explored some more I realized that the entire 3 story building was empty and raided. The front desk was covered by bullet holes but the content inside of it was okay. They had a paper map and a box of caramel candy me and Micha would get a piece of from the secretary that had gone bad.

"Micha! I found it let's go!,".

   "Okay sis!,".

As we set out through the door's I noticed the monster, that was a few feet from the door, was gone. I hurried to get Micha and leave, but before I could react the monster had grabbed me from around the waist and pulled me out into the crumbling parking lot.
