"Reg, what d'you got today?" I ask Regulus at breakfast, reaching over the table and grabbing a piece of toast beginning to butter it for him.
"Same as always," he sighs in boredom, "You?" he asks me,
"Same. But I have Ancient Runes instead of Divination." he nods, and I hand him his toast, he grins slightly but pretends to roll his eyes.
"When are you guys gonna stop treating me like a baby?" he exaggerates as he accepts the toast. I giggle and Andromeda walks over and ruffles his hair with her beringed hand.
"Never. You're always gonna be the baby of the family," She jokes and continues on to the Hufflepuff table where her boyfriend waits for her.
"Did you send the letter?" I inquire, joking aside.
"Yeah, it should arrive soon. I hope he doesn't ignore it..."
"If he does I'll hex his ass," I reach for some tea and pour it into my cup.
Regulus and Sirius haven't spoken to each other all year, and the younger brother longs over everything to see Sirius. It's been sad witnessing the formerly close brothers fall out like this. But Sirius keeps ignoring him, so Regulus sent a letter to Sirius that he shouldn't ignore, notifying him that they need to talk.
"Oh, there it is." He gulps nervously. I observe as a large tawny owl carrying a letter soars over the Gryffindor table and releases the parchment into Sirius's lap.
"Bloody hell, what is it this time?" I hear Sirius groan to no one in particular. "Oh, Merlin..." what Sirius does next tears his little brother apart. "Incendio!" He hisses and out of his wand comes a jet of fire that aims at the letter. I gasp quietly as it gets burnt to a crisp and leaves nothing but ashes on the table.
Regulus's pink lips part slightly, only no words come out, he gets to his feet and saunters over to the Gryffindor table, I stand up and follow suit, feeling upset and nervous for what the encounter may bring.
"That wasn't from mum or dad," Regulus tells his brother, no hints of anger in his voice, but sadness. "It was from me! I wanted to see you, and talk to you."
"Well, brother, I don't want to see you." Sirius snaps, standing up and facing Regulus. His three friends all look slightly uncomfortable, but I've seen enough of their fights to no longer feel like an intruder.
"Sirius!" I scold him,
"It's fine," Regulus utters to me before speaking to Sirius again. "Why are you still mad at me?"
"We're not talking about this here." Sirius orders in a final sort of way, "Or ever. I don't want to see you, so stay away from me, Regulus." Sirius turns and leaves, leaving a feeling of unresolvedness behind him. I glance over and see that Regulus's jade eyes have filled with thick tears that threaten to spill.
"Hey, I'll go talk to him, he's not in a good mood this morning." James stands up and tells him,
"Don't bother. You heard what he said," He quickly leaves the Great Hall and goes the opposite way Sirius did. I sigh.
"Do you know what bloody hell those two have been fighting about?" Potter asks me after Regulus leaves.
"No. They haven't talked to each other all year though. It's upsetting."
"Sirius won't tell us anything, he usually tells me everything."
"Must be something big then. Whatever it is, it's tearing Regulus apart, he feels terrible but Sirius wont forgive him."
