It had been a few days since Eddie had brought Priscilla's car to the shop he worked at and she was curious to see how things were going. As much as she enjoyed going to work on the back of Eddie's bike, she did feel like she had lost a little bit of her independence by not having her car. And since Robin didn't drive, their days had begun to grow long and boring by being stuck at the house until either Eddie or Steve showed up to release them from their time consuming prisons.
Priscilla walked through the glass front door of the rundown looking body shop. The bell on the top of the door jingled as the door opened and then shut behind her. There was an older woman in front of her sitting behind the desk. Priscilla approached her and smiled. The woman held up a finger, indicating to Priscilla to wait a moment while she finished her phone call. Priscilla nodded in understanding and began looking around the small shop lobby, taking in everything around her.
It was definitely a mechanics shop. The floor was so dirty she couldn't even tell what the original color of the tiles were. Her eyes scanned the walls covered in various posters of different car models and random license plates from different states created a border at the top of the wall all around. To her right, in front of the desk on little shelves, there were jars of what looked like homemade jams and jellies but the tin lids of the jars looked rusted and dirty while the ink on the price tags were fading. It was a wonder how long those had sat there for.
Behind the woman at the desk there was a door that was split so that the bottom half was closed and the top half was open and looking into the main part of the body shop. There was a Ford truck lifted up in the air and Priscilla watched as an older man with a long beard walked around it, inspecting his handy work. He caught a glimpse of Priscilla and furrowed his brow at her for a moment before returning his attention back to the car. The sound of Black Sabbath's Paranoid drifted into the lobby through the opening in the door.
Just to the left of the door hung a chalkboard on the wall with a cute drawing of a flower. Written right underneath the drawing was "drawn by Jessie, the best person here". Priscilla smiled at the drawing. It looked like a child may have drawn it and she guessed it was probably one of Eddie's coworkers' daughters who drew it.
"Sorry about that, hun." The older woman said, sighing as she carelessly hung the phone up. "What can I do for you?"
"Um, is Eddie here?" Priscilla asked, anxiously pulling at the hem of her shirt. Part of her felt extremely out of place here. This was a shop where it was obvious the most masculine of men took their cars. But in a strange way, part of her felt at home. The sound of metal playing, the rough and tough looking men in the shop and that local, small, homey feeling that the shop gave off were all strangely comforting.
Before the woman could turn around to shout for Eddie into the shop, Priscilla saw his familiar head of brown hair walking by the opening in the door. She watched him quickly glance at her before registering who he was looking at. He stopped in his tracks and turned toward her, resting his elbows on the ledge of the bottom half of the door with a big grin on his face. "Hey, you." Eddie said, gleaming at the sight of Priscilla.
Priscilla felt her heart begin to beat faster at the sight of Eddie covered in grease, his hair slightly rugged and held back with a black bandana wrapped around his head and a hair tie keeping it tucked into a small bun of messy curls. She noticed that dimple on his left cheek that she had recently just discovered made its appearance as he smiled. She couldn't explain why, but he looked so attractive with dirt and grease smudged all over his clothes and his face. Maybe it was the inherent masculinity that came with being a mechanic and Priscilla wasn't disappointed by the sight of him.
"Mary, this is Priscilla." Eddie continued, introducing Priscilla to the woman at the desk.
Mary looked from Priscilla and back to Eddie with a smirk, like she already knew exactly who Priscilla was now that Eddie had introduced them. "Very nice to finally meet you." Mary said and Priscilla saw Eddie grimace from embarrassment. It was clear that Eddie must've told Mary all about Priscilla and talked about her often enough for Mary to react in the way she did.
