Amelia was rudely woken by a phone call from Lizzie. While she appreciated the hey I'm alive call she didn't appreciate being woken up. And just as she was gonna fall asleep again Mg knocked on the door telling her to get to the gym, which is where the girl found herself.
Vardemus-This...is a Manticulum. My own design. It uses algorithmic magic to calculate probabilities.
Mg-How's that help us fight the gods?
Hope-It can't, on its own. We have to combine it with something else.
Amelia-Something like that game that you,me, Hope and Landon played once.
Hope-That's why you're here, nerd.
Wade-Oh. Oh! It's like a tabletop RPG. Or, like, a super-accurate D&D campaign. This thing is, like, smart dice that will tell us the outcome of any attack or defense. We can use this to war game what would happen in an actual battle. All we need to do is encode our powers into the Mant... the Man... uh...
Amelia-Manticulum.
Wade- yes, Manticulum.
Ric-So we need to rate everyone's skills, then.
Wade-Oh, I've already done that.
Everyone turns to him confused. Vardemus kicked everyone out besides Wade and handed out their cards and had everyone come in separately, finally it was Amelia and Hope's turn as they were leaning against the wall as Ben walked in.
Ben-I'd like to help.
Vardemus- I'm sure we're all keen to see what a god is capable of.
Ben-Demigod. But I can't join you. I'm forbidden from fighting against my family. It's the other side of the curse my father put on me. But I can tell you what they would do in a fight. I should play the side of the enemy in this game.
Ric-Well, there's only two people left to test.
Hope-No test needed. Right, Wayne?
Amelia rolled her eyes as they approached the table, Amelia offered wade a soft smile
Wade-Uh, well for Hope, I made up a humanity-off sheet for her. And she's basically the perfect fighter.
Hope- Hmm.
Wade- Uh, incredible magical power levels, unencumbered by morality, with no discernible weaknesses.
Hope stared at the wall behind Wade and Vademus Amelia watched Hopes face twitch ever so slightly
Wade- For Amelia it's the same but a little less magic and more strength from her wolf/vamp side and plus humanity so it balances out.
They made there way to the common area where Vardemus turned the floor into a board with 4 statues at the end
Vardemus- This is your field of battle.
Once again Amelia watched Hope's eye drift off to something like she heard something.
Vardemus-Vampires can move across the board in one turn. The speed of the gods varies. And these... are your opponents. I took the liberty of creating some automatons for the purposes of our game. Hopefully, I did them justice. I haven't used magic to sculpt since the last Wizard Games.
He made his way over to the statues
Vardemus-Aurora de Martel.
He pulled down a sheet
Vardemus-My erstwhile student, Jen.
Pulled another
Vardemus-Her father, Ken. The father of an entire family of gods. And finally...
