So I've got a bit of a fever and I haven't been properly working on the book. I will post the next chapter soon. Maybe tomorrow. I'm sorry for this long rant but I need to get this off my chest, I've already cried like twice watching their pathetic state.
But this post is simply to talk about the absolute bottle job these clowns produced. The only person who won't get so heavily criticized by me is Ajinkya Rahane. But oh my god what about the rest of them hmm? Virat and Rohit getting out cheaply playing stupid ass fuck shots and honestly I had no hopes from Shubman. His average in England is horrible, so really, I won't even consider his performance with the bat. Pujara now, that man has been in England doing what? Scoring centuries in County and absolutely CHOKING in the main thing. Wow man just wow.
After the first session, I posted a long note on my profile that the management needs to change. Even if they had miraculously won, the coaches had to be sacked. Was I livid at the field placements Rohit set? Absolutely. Was I even angrier at how long it took them to realize the key to getting Travis out. Hell yes. But it isn't captaincy that's the problem. It partially is but not entirely. It's the coaches and the good for nothing management.
Bowlers need to take full responsibility for this. Batsmen can't always be the ones to drag you out of messes. Those trolling Virat calling him choker need a hard slap on their face he's the highest run getter of the second innings and it could have been a much better innings if he hadn't played that stupid shot. And the Virat fans trolling Rohit need to be slapped too, that man gave us the perfect start and got out cheaply too.
Australia deserved to win the tournament. Most consistent team, they showed intent from the first day and Travis Head and Smudge played such great knocks we have to appreciate them. On a pitch which wasn't giving much, their bowlers got us all out not once but twice under 300. That's called a champion's performance not whatever we did. Get three wickets aur aaraam karlo. Pat Cummins, Mitch Starc and Steve Smith all three of them stressed on how they wanted Virat out and they got him out. We knew it was over the minute Virat got out, fuck he deserved a 50, maybe people would stop trolling him over not having more than one 50, but he bottled and the worst part? He was actually trying to play his signature to get his 50 in style probably and Steve becomes Jhonty Rhodes(twice) and takes a flying catch.
I'm tired. I have no hopes for the ODI WC. For the 2024 T20 wc if they don't change managements, but they have a new team and new captain and they still lose, it'll be clear who's at fault. From the time Bharat Arun and Shastri stopped being our coaches, we saw an unreal decline across all formats, it was like we completely stopped playing for wins and started playing for draws. Rahul Dravid as a player is good but as a coach he's not someone I would prefer. While under Kohli-Shastri we weren't winning ICC tournaments India became on of the most fiercest teams, they ingrained into our heads that it's either a win or a lose, there should be no talks of draws, Shastri always said, pitch jaye bhaad mei, mujhe wickets chaahiye. Now we're losing because of a weak bowling line up.
BCCI isn't the same, they have been treating their players like shit and finally finally each and every one of them are opening up quietly, those stories Virat's been posting? I'm worried a scary retirement post is around the corner. Siraj posted something about keeping quiet hours after he said he likes being aggressive. And these clown selectors dropped Ash when the whole world knew we needed him. Subtle changes in the management have been noticed since 2020 nobody talked about it, come 2022 it was all about Virat's form and Rohit taking over captaincy, it wasn't until the whole Chetan Sharma thing that the world knew exactly what happened.
Point is, like they say your team is only as good as their captain, even when Kohli was in the worst form, he was aggressive, he motivated his bowlers to play, attack, get wickets, and they won, was he carried this cycle? Yes, he was, but in the tests he did perform in, he had almost no support from the other end. When Rohit just got thrown into test captaincy as well, he was inexperienced, injuries ruled him out of so many tests, and he missed captaining almost half the cycle, and the matches he captained were those at home, so not much experience doing it in oversea conditions, but everyone knows he's the calm and collected captain, but on day 1 of the test, he looked clueless and like it or not, it did affect the bowlers, again it's not his fault, but it is what is.
Blame game, we'll each point fingers and say oh it's Virat's fault, no it's Rohit's, no it's Gil''s or no it's Pujara's, truth is Vikram Rathore and Paras Mhambrey their good for nothing coaches need to go. They've ruined everything and I am not saying this out of spite, but I've been noticing this especially since the 2022 SA series, they were legit asked to play for a draw, and that's the mentality they've been going with.
As a commentator for my college cricket team, I have always been opinionated I need to be neutral as well, I've criticized my best friend when he throws his wicket in a crucial point in the game and I don't hesitate to say it into the mic with the rest of the panel or I give him the tightest hug after he does well, I will celebrate the team's success like it's my own and cry when they fail, same with the ICT, I love all their personal milestones....but does it really matter if they come in losing causes when it matters the most?
I don't mean to offend anyone's personal views on this. But this, today, it pissed me off so much I mean losing the T20 wc hurt but WTC has always been special. Everytime I get into a twitter war I flex those 5 maces of ours, cause once upon a time, they were called ICC AWARDS, now because of WTC, they've lost their worth. To me they'll always be ICC awards, no matter what any trophy merchant says about it. Again sorry for the long rant. Do share your opinions on this I'm all ears, we won't obviously have the same views on what happened the last 5 days, but I'm eager to know your POVs.
Also I just need to edit the next chapter, I will be putting it up tomorrow. Promise.
