A/N: Rachin Ravindra. What a talent. What a player. A 23 year old carrying the hopes of his team in a 350+ run chase. We've seen this before. But man I wanna see Kanos and Rachin batting together having iconic partnerships all that before he retires from white ball. I was lucky to witness some with Virat - Shubman, Smudge - Marnus partnerships, but Rachin's the perfect heir to Kane's legacy imo.
Also Virat buddy u really gotta work on that ego of urs. Can't always expect the ball to find gaps if u so much as touch it. Shreyas' form is really concerning and even Shubman. Don't want to be that mohalle walle aunty when I say Rachin is what we expected Gill to be this wc.
IK the SL match was....something. Virat bottling another century, Gill struggling in the first few overs and then smashing, Shreyas I can't say anything till he does well against SA. Siraj just hates SL and Shami...what a bowler yaar.
Anyway onto the story. What the title says is what the title says
The entire team had gotten used to Virat's love language that is hugs. But only the seniors knew of one of his other way of expressing his affection. That were his forehead kisses. They were rare. Very rare of course. Only few people had the fortune of receiving those. So imagine the surprise of the kids of the team when they'd each first received them from him.
Kuldeep (2019)
Kuliya was down after their game against England. He'd been belted for runs and he blamed himself for the team losing their win streak at the World Cup. Virat hadn't said a word to them and that made Kul feel even worse because his brain automatically translated it to Vi being mad at him and Yuzi. Mahi bhai had reassured him none of them were mad but there sat a sulking Kul at the breakfast table the next morning waiting eagerly for either Ro or Vi to come down.
Virat had entered the room, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he'd had a meeting with the board and barely got enough sleep, Ro hurried from behind him and whispered,
"Kuliya thinks you hate him Vi. Fix it."
Virat still didn't process what Rohit told him but he understood enough Kul was feeling down so he walked to Kul and did the only thing he thought would make him feel better because it ALWAYS worked on Rah.
Kul put his head down when Virat walked in and just looked at the fancy mahogany table top and mindlessly traced those intricate designs on the edge, he felt Virat stop behind his chair and he was ready to listen to Virat say anything related to the game, but instead he felt Virat lean a little over and kiss his forehead, ruffled his hair, patted his shoulder and walked to go get his cup of coffee.
Kuldeep looked so adorably confused, Mahi bhai, Ro, Bhuvi and Shami had to laugh.
That was the first time Kul was on the receiving end of one of those forehead kisses. He found out that Virat before he gets his cup of coffee? Has no filter and impulsively does things.
Hardik (2016)
Virat and Hardik had gotten into a fight over something really fucking stupid. Virat had accidentally taken Hardik's head set thinking it's his when infact he had forgotten his own at home. Hardik had looked everywhere for his head set which was a gift from his brother and when he entered the team bus and saw his headphones around Virat's neck, he flew at him pulling them off Virat's neck.
Virat in return retaliated by biting Hardik's hand for yanking what he thought were his possession off. They'd pushed, scratched and smacked each other for half an hour even though Mahi bhai tried pulling them apart and then Hardik showed Virat that intricate 'H' personalized on the underside of the muff. Vi then proceeded to accuse Hardik of putting that mark on his head set.
