Five years in the future...

Sam looked out the window at thirty-six-thousand feet. He could just make out the coastline. Soon they would approach The Point. As he looked inland, there was a white dusting of snow. It was warm when he boarded the plane in Alabama. Although there wasn't enough snow to take his camera and go for a snowmobile ride, he wanted to snuggle in front of the fire. He even loved the winters on The Point. Since it was only November, there was a long one ahead.

Coming home. The Point would always be home. He couldn't imagine his life if he hadn't agreed to move so his father could be with Alison. At the time, he would never believe that Cole would be his best friend. He smiled at how much his brother had changed.

He smiled wider as he saw the river flowing into the ocean. The trees blocked most of the houses and cottages, but he could see the houses on the beach. First the Thompson's house, then The Beach House, next was the Clark house and last the Pelletier's house. If he really looked he could see Mike's house.

It was low tide, so the sandbar was visible. People were specks on the beach and he wondered how many he knew. Letting out a breath, he would be home indefinitely. With his work complete, he planned to focus on more important things, although he had no regrets about the time he had been away.

Life came with regrets. Lord knows, he made his share of mistakes. The greatest gifts were love and forgiveness, and he had been given both. He had forgiven too, but in the end he was the one who needed the most forgiveness. Pride could be destructive, but just like his father, leaving Turner was Sam's first step.

Just like Cole had changed, Sam had evolved from the man he was five years before. He had grown into a man his father was proud of. It wasn't easy as he experienced love and loss. The one thing that never changed was his heart. When the plane landed, he sent a text. Home.

An emoji appeared, and he smiled. It was simple, but it represented everything important.
