VICTORIA ROLLED HER EYES, as JJ demonstrated a trick with beer. They used to do that a lot. The trick is to stand on the very front of the boat, and try to drink it without spilling it. There's a catch, of course. You have to hold the beer around 2 cm from your mouth. Victoria used to be good at it, JJ not as much, so his attempt failed, leaving everyone on the boat in beer.
"Fuck, JJ! The beer's in my hair now!" Kiara screamed, frantically running her fingers through her wet hair.
JJ just laughed at her dramatic reaction, his eyes sparkling with mischief, as the boat jolted to a stop. In an instant, he was thrown overboard, splashing into the water as everyone else on the boat either lost their balance or crashed into something.
"Jesus, Pope!" Victoria groaned, still trying to get her bearings as she searched for JJ in the water.
After a few moments, JJ emerged from the depths, floating on his back with a smug grin. Victoria let out a relieved sigh.
"You okay, JJ?" John B called out, getting to his feet.
JJ took a few deep breaths and then growled, "I think my heels touched the back of my head."
"Kie, Vic, you okay?" John B checked in, his voice softer as he rested against the edge of the boat.
"I'm all right," Kiara answered, fixing her clothes as she got herself together.
Victoria nodded, but a sharp hiss escaped her lips as pain shot through her head from her earlier injury. She rubbed her temples and glanced out at the water, her attention suddenly caught by something odd beneath the surface.
"Wait... there's something down there. A boat, maybe?" she said, squinting as she tried to make out the shape in the murky depths.
"Yeah right," Kiara muttered, rolling back into her seat, clearly not taking her seriously.
"No, no, I'm serious," Victoria's voice grew more urgent as she leaned over the edge of the boat. "I think there's a boat down there!"
The others, growing curious, stood up to take a look. Kiara and John B stepped toward the water, and Victoria pointed to the spot where she'd seen the shape. "It's a boat, I'm telling you," she insisted.
As they all peered over the edge, their eyes widened in surprise. Kiara took off her shirt, her voice filled with disbelief. "Holy shit, she's right. Let's go."
