After a full weekend of unpacking and attempting to get my life somewhat put together, Monday was here before I knew it. I tugged the ripped high waisted jeans and cropped white t-shirt onto my body before slowly making my way to the kitchen. Dustin's voice echoed through the hallway the closer I got, eventually spotting him on the phone sipping coffee at the kitchen island.

"I think that'll be a great idea, yeah for sure-" His eyes lit up as they met mine, a small wave being sent in my direction to which I sent a small one back. "Don't worry about that. I'll be in around two today, that'll give about an hour before everyone else shows up." Resting my forearms on the island across from him and clasping my hands together, I decided to wait patiently for him to be free to explain yet again how to use his fancy coffee machine. I needed caffeine in the worst way. "Amelia? Yeah, she's gonna tag along." My head leaned off to the side, brows furrowed at the mention of my name, where was I going? "Alright, yeah, see you soon, Kid."

The second his phone hit the counter I knew what he was going to do, he was going to avoid the question he knew was going to be fired at him. "Good morning! How'd you sleep? Want some coffee?" He asked, gesturing to the machine behind me.

"Nice try, where am I going?"

Dustin pulled himself off the the stool, letting out a soft hum as he made his way to the machine. "Didn't you know it's bring your sister to work day?"

Turning so my body was now facing his direction once again, I leaned against the counter on my left. "Must have missed the memo."

He shrugs, grabbing a mug from the cabinet above him. "I think it could be a cool opportunity-" I make a mental note to watch him closely so I can figure out how to use this damn machine on my own next time. "Everyone wants to meet you. Plus, you've always loved coming to the studio with me."

"Yeah, when it's just us-" I reminded him, pushing myself off of the counter to get the oat milk from the fridge. "From what Mitch was saying, it sounds like you guys have really important work happening right now, I don't need to get in the way of that." Although I had a good argument, I knew my brother wouldn't take no as an answer, especially now that others were under the impression I would be there too. "You could have at least asked before telling other people I'd be there."

Dustin pulled the now full mug from under the machine, placing it carefully into my own hands. "You wouldn't have come if I just asked." We both knew he was right, he was always right. "You don't wanna make Mitch sad, do you? We're really excited for you to meet everyone and we've missed you." A fake pout tugged at his bottom lip and I felt myself cave. There was always something inside of me that never wanted to let my brother down, that had to make sure he was happy because he deserved the world. I didn't want to be the person who gave him anything less than that, who disappointed him.

"Fine, okay, I'll come." I mumbled, pouring the oat milk while avoiding eye contact. I could feel his smile of satisfaction and I just simply didn't want to see it. "But, on one condition." Once I knew his face had fallen in the slightest, eyes now narrowed at me, I let myself look back in his direction. "I get to drive the convertible."

Within seconds the keys were flying through the air directly at me, catching them with ease. "Well, speaking of the convertible..." My brows rose as he paused briefly. "I'm glad you like it, cause it's yours."

Surely I misheard him, it sounded like he said it was mine. "For the day?" I asked to confirm, taking a small sip of the coffee.

His face softened as he shook his head. "You deserve this, Mi, it's yours."

I somehow managed to place the mug on the counter without spilling due to the shock of what he was saying. "Dus, you can't do that-" I attempted to put the keys back in his hands which just balled into fists, refusing to grasp onto the cold steel.
