THIRD POV

It was now the next day and Althea was currently in the library with Alec who was teaching her all about the history of the Volturi and it's members. They've been there for the past two hours and she was starting to get a bit overwhelmed with all this information.

She sat on a couch, a small table between them holding a pile of old books. Alec sat across from her on a similar couch. He too held a book in his hands.

"So wait. I don't understand, why would they burn anyone who excelled in things", she looked over at Alec as he looked down at his book. An unreadable expression present, "They didn't like what was different. Anything that wasn't deemed normal, it was the work of the devil" he said.

She sighed at the information. "So you and Jane...", he nodded as he finally glanced up at her. Red eyes meeting dark grey. "Yeah", he cleared his throat as he shut the book. "They thought we were satanic children. Not worthy of living and burning us was the best option. Something about wanting to make sure we went back to our master". He chuckled as he looked back down.

Alec always found humor in things. Especially his death. How stupid people back in his time were. Satan wasn't real and neither his sister nor him, made a deal. And because of their beliefs, it costed them their lives. Their mother and father shaming them like the rest of village for something they didn't even do.

From it, his trauma has been glossed over with humor. He couldn't do anything about the past after all, so why not make fun of it. Althea couldn't help but look at him, head to toe. And as a humorous smile spread upon his lips, she finally saw it. Alec was but a boy still. A boy stuck in time, who died in an unfortunate way and lost what could've been his original life.

But now, he lives a new path as an immortal and so he shall for years to come. She couldn't help but pity him a bit. No one deserved it. He'd been her best friend, her only friend really. And it wasn't until then, that it struck her just how young he really was. Younger than her, in mortal years anyway.

Sighing, "I'm sorry Alec. That's terrible, I can't help but think about how scared you must've been. So young". He shook his head at that. "I mean yeah. I was scared, mainly for Jane".

"What about yourself. Were you not upset", she asked. "I was. But that was swept away when I saw them". She tilted her head when he said that. "Saw who?". Alec raised his head to finally look at her, making eye contact.

"Burn!"

"Devil children! The both of you!"
