Before we begin the story of Althea Ravenwood Swan, we must start from the beginning. You see, Althea was more of an oopsie baby. She was definitely not planned, but she was loved nonetheless.
In the small town of Forks, Washington lived a young couple. Charlie Swan and Renee Dwayer were quite young at the time. And like any other young couple, they went for anything without much thought and one thing led to another and their first daughter was conceived.
Charlie was over the moon with happiness. Recently getting a job at the police station, buying his first home for him and now his wife and a child too? He couldn't have asked for more.
Renee however, was not happy. She had been with Charlie for quite some time and she did love him. But she always thought she could do more in life. That there was more to life than a small simple minded town where rain and dark clouds were a constant. The longer she stayed there the worse she felt. She battled with herself a lot, wanting to bring it up to Charlie, the idea of hopefully moving elsewhere.
But then Charlie got a job at the police station, and then bought a house, without telling her at that. Finding out she was pregnant was not in her bingo card. It was the last thing she wanted at the time. She was young and aspired for other things. But she bit her tongue, not wanting to ruin it for Charlie who beamed with joy over their milestones.
But the longer she remained quiet and complacent, the more she began to despise Charlie and their life. She tried to get something out of him, see if he'd want to leave, but not seeing her intentions he'd responded truthfully. He's lived in Forks all his life and he was a simple man, and moving to a far away place where his friends and family lived weren't at wasn't something he particularly wanted.
Like most couples, communication was a bust. Renee never told him of the feelings she was harboring, and so he never knew of what was to come.
Soon enough when Renee reached 5 months, they'd begun to fight. It was becoming much too real for them, her really. She'd started to question what would happen when she was to give birth. Would she stay? Leave? She didn't know. But she knew that she didn't want to live there anymore and her feelings for Charlie started to dwindle, the honeymoon phase was coming to an end for her.
And with time as she was close to giving birth, she'd broken up with him in a fit of rage. No longer seeing him as the man she'd fallen in love with in high school, or the man she married for love. She figured that after giving birth and once she was stable enough she could leave.
Charlie was incredibly upset. He couldn't believe what his life was turning into. After working so hard to pursue a career he'd always wanted, getting the house and the girl and the family, it was all falling apart and he didn't fully understand why. After Renee broke up with him, he indulged in work, and alcohol of course.
