Beside me I could feel Nyx tense up as if expecting a blow. "Nyx? What's wrong?"
"Nori contacted - she was in the courtyard training with Altair and Heidi. She said that she sensed some unknown people entering the Stronghold."
"Have-"
I didn't get to complete my sentence as right at that moment I could feel a shift in the air heading towards Nyx. I was just in time to move and block a swinging sword stroke aimed towards her. Probably one of the intruders.
As our swords connected with a clang I heard a grunt of surprise. This person is not used to being crossed. I waited, holding him off until Nyx moved back, giving me the room I would need. Feeling the empty space, I pushed against the intruder, hearing him fumble as he tried to regain balance. Hoping that Nyx could hear my thoughts, I tell her to gather the rest of the Khupashai and scour the rest of the palace - surely this man wasn't the only one attempting an attack
'Capture but don't kill, we need to know who we are against'.
Extending my senses out to the surrounding area I could feel Nyx moving away - she must have heard me then. Focusing my attention back to the intruder I gathered my strength as he prepared to attack. As he moved towards me, I noticed something familiar about the way in which he was fighting - in the way he moved with efficiency and purpose. Bending under his swinging sword, I move around in an attempt to flank him. I can tell that he is frustrated that I manage to keep evading him but I can also tell that he enjoys the challenge that I am presenting to him.
The battle continues on - almost becoming more of a test of endurance than a battle to the death. As we continue to fight, the man takes a step back, preparing for a blow that would incapacitate me. In that moment, it clicks. I know who this person is.
Swinging my wrist in a circular motion, I stepped close to his guard, locking my sword hilt to his. I can't see him, but who else would fight this way - fighting as if he had an audience to please. With a quick twist, I send his sword flying, feeling the reverberations as it clatters across the room. Quickly moving my sword up to his neck, I smile. "Never thought I would meet The Blade in the physical realm, let alone best him in battle." I chuckled at his evident confusion before removing the sword and placing it back in its sheath.
"Who are you? How do you know me?"
I smiled again, slightly softer this time but still cheeky. "The Voices know me."
Short but more cominggg soon I promisee
