A Voices update on the eleventh day of the fourth month in the two thousand and twenty fourth year of our Lord? Impossible.

Enjoy ^^

With the distant sound of laughter and the smell of freshly made pancakes soft in the air I rose from my sleep state ready and refreshed - better than I had been in a while. Making my way to the dining room, I was greeted with the promising sounds of both the Khupashai and the Syndicate having breakfast together. It seems the talks last night had tempered some of the... well tempers. After a fulfilling breakfast amidst laughter and casual banter, the Khupashai and Syndicate slowly dispersed. Either in small groups or pairs. Probably to show The Syndicate around. Putting away the washed breakfast dishes I could feel a gaze on me as I worked. Placing the last dish away I turned around, a smile on my lips. "Would you like me to give you a tour Techno?"

"You knew I was here?"

I shrugged. "It was a bit obvious."

He chuckled and I could hear the sound of a chair scraping across stone. "I think a tour would be fine."

"Great. Let's get to it then."

And with that we started the tour. I showed him the interesting places such as the deposed governments old living quarters that we now used, the dining halls, the ball room, the entrances to the many secret tunnels and rooms we had found, the old 'living quarters' of those who had been experimented on - now used as more humane cells for the scientists and guards who had surrendered peacefully. I showed him the weapons room and training grounds which he took a particular interest in - especially with being able to see how my friends trained to which he offered a few pointers. It was certainly interesting to watch two avians having a spar - now that the whole enemy thing was out of the way. From there I showed Techno the basements where we kept the long living foods and then towards a set of stairs.

"This is the way to our actual prisons... it's where a lot of us were kept before the experiments and now it's where we keep the worst of the prisoners." Chynea paused, fists clenched at her sides.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah... it's just never nice coming back here."

"Umm y-you were a voice while you were kept here right? That must have been a long time. It's understandable that this place holds no fondness."

I shook my head. "No, it's not. But it must be done. You can't grow with only sunny days - sometimes you need the rain."

"We don't have to go there if you don't want to."

Chynea scoffed good naturedly, a hint of a smile at her lips. "Now what type of host would I be if I couldn't do something like that? Besides, we were hoping to get some information from one of the prisoners - today might be a good time to try that."

However, today would indeed not be the day as the sound of hurried footsteps and laboured breath quickly approached from the room they had just been.

"Chynea?"

Recognising the voice, Chynea shakes her head to Techno, pointing his sword back down, reassuring him before calling out to the runner. "It's alright, he's one of ours. We're down here Perish!"

Now in sight, the man was clearly relieved to see them. "Altair sent me to tell you that the laminä representatives have arrived and are waiting for you."

"Already? I thought they couldn't make it till another few weeks?"

"They were, but travel was better than expected so they were able to make it earlier."

Sighing softly, Chynea turned to Techno, smiling apologetically. "Sorry Techno, looks like I'll have to show you this another time. You're welcome to look around still if you wish. You know the way back?"

Techno himself smiled, reassuring Chynea. " You know me, I never get lost."

"Right, human GPS." Chynea chuckled, understanding his reference. "Well I'll see you later, sorry again for rushing off. You can explore wherever you like, I'll have the word sent out."

"Thanks."

~~~~Technoblade PoV~~~~
With Chynea and the messenger gone, I debated on whether I would go for further exploration or go and find Phil. On one hand, the only other prison I had been to was much more modern. This one seemed older. It would at least be fascinating to see... Decision made, I continue down the stairwell, ignoring the excited chittering of the Voices. Afterall, they weren't the only ones who wanted to see the remains of the government Chynea had disposed of.
The further down I went, the more surprised I was at how dark the cells actually were. The damp and cold of the prison was rather disheartening. Chynea must have had a very strong resolve to be able to stay sane in that situation. Especially for that long.
Most of the cells were empty and I could only imagine how many ex-government officials were left from the initial revolution. The sound of raspy breathing drew me further in, interested to finally see the fallen government.
The man was pitiful. His once fine and elegant clothes, now nothing more than rags and tatters. His hair tangled and filled with grime. His skin was pale and sickly, covered with dried blood and dirt. Whatever sins he had committed must've been deplorable. The man stared at him, disgust evident in his expression.
Techno could feel a growl building in the back of his throat - the Voices stirring. He was familiar with these types of situations. People who hated him for being a shifter - a piglin. "And why are you imprisoned? You who have fallen to the deepest pits?"
The man only scoffed. "So you've taken their side huh? I wonder how much it took to buy you. Money? Resources? .... Slaves?"
This time, Techno did growl, hackles raised at the man who dared say that The Blade could be bought. Drawing his sword, Techno rested it against the man's neck. "As much as I would love to take your head from your shoulders for even entertaining the idea that I could be bought, I know that Chynea has you here for a reason and most likely wouldn't mind me killing you but I will not take that from her." Sword now sheathed, Techno turned away, one last parting comment for the prisoner. "I hope you rot here for a long time."
The prisoner only laughed. "Wouldn't that be adequate. Eh Blood god?"
Hahaaa first publishment since .... November last year... and it's a cliffhanger, sorry not sorry >:D
Heaappss of thanks to my irl for helping me kick writer's block butt.
In other news, I have been developing the lore of this world for future chapters (you will never guess ^^) and have also had an idea for an AU but I can't publish that till a certain chapter is out here. Oh well. Story for another time.
With all that said, I am glad to be writing for Voices again and can't wait to make more progress.
Take care of yourselves.
Stay happy and safe and remember that Jesus loves you <3
Melza ^^
