Shimmer and I walked together to the other side of the lake.
"It was really nice to see everyone participate in the planning of this evening's festivities."
"It was Shimmer," is all I say.
I decided to keep my discussion with Peter to myself for the time being. Hoping my trust in him was not misplaced. I wish I could be sure, but his actions today are still bothering me. I am not entirely sure now if I let my friendship with him influence my decision to make him the leader of the hunters. I was positive at the time that he was the best fit. Now, because he did not follow Shimmer's instructions, I have doubts. Hopefully, I am worrying over nothing.
I know that if I had not noticed what was happening. We would surely have had hunters missing from the festival tonight. That could have been disastrous. I was not clear on all of the details about the path we were starting down, but one thing was for sure. Everyone needed to be there tonight when Apollo arrived.
With everyone tending to their individual groups' activities for this evening Shimmer and I slipped away to further discuss the layout for this evening's events.
I started the conversation as we walked the perimeter. "I think all of the activities could start after the dinner feast. Once everyone has eaten I suppose people can roam around and participate in the activities they choose. I think the leaders of each sector should start at their sector presentation and then be rotated out so they can participate as well."
"Agreed. Getting stuck just working on your sector's submission would not be a lot of fun. I know tonight is not really about fun, but if we have the opportunity to have fun I think we should. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Everyone might as well enjoy the party being thrown tonight."
"Let us go and check on Shaneel. I believe she will play a vital role in tonight's festival. I am convinced she is our most important link to the gods. The only one of us that has any standing with them. If ancient Greek mythology; I mean 'history' at this point I do not believe the stories are myths; is accurate at all we will need the gods to care about her for this to work. If they do not care about any of us their history shows they will not help us. On the flip side of that coin, the only reason for them to help us is they probably need something from us. The gods are known for being as ruthless as they are caring. If what I have read is correct of course."
Shimmer replied, "I do not have such knowledge as we have discussed in the past. We have already established that history especially the Greek Gods is not my strong suit. However, I trust you, therefore, on this matter, I will follow your lead."
We find Shaneel deep in thought. She is sitting on her bed possibly meditating. As we approach she opens her eyes and asks us to sit in the two chairs I just noticed were placed across from her bed.
"You knew we were coming?" I ask as we take our seats."
"Of course, I figured we had some final logistics to attend to before this evening and I needed some quiet time to prepare. I have a feeling a lot will fall on my shoulders tonight. As Apollo's oracle he expects a lot from me and I plan to fulfill his expectations."
Fair enough I think to myself.
Shimmer chimes in, "I took it upon myself to have a replica altar made for you. It is by no means fancy but I think it might serve as an olive branch to Apollo. At least show him some of us are prepared to do what is needed to make this relationship work for all parties."
"That was very thoughtful of you Shimmer. I think you are right. I have been so busy preparing myself I had not thought to use any props to aid me. I wonder what both of you are bringing to the festival this evening?"
