"See, there she is, hey Gaby" They all turned to me, I smiled at them and said hello to them all. I sat down, and they went back into their conversation. so, with that, I turned to my phone and waited for someone to talk to me.
A few minutes later I heard a chair next to me pull out, so I looked up and noticed it was my roommate. She was sitting in front of me, being greeted by my friends. they knew her, and I hadn't even been warned? My eyes were solely focused on her and how pretty she was. I watched her from close by but it felt like she was far. She was laughing very lightly. I quite enjoyed the way her hair was multiple different lengths, the sun made her hair look lighter, and it was so pretty. She glanced in my direction, and her eyes looked stellar. They were shining and I wish I could see the details closer, I hated the table at this moment, it kept me from her. Her skin looked smooth, and the tan on her skin was just gorgeous, a difference from my paler skin. I knew that her hands had to be just as soft and holding them would be so nice, even holding her-"Gaby? hello?" I felt someone tugging at my hair and noticed the whole table looking at me, she was looking at me. I felt my face heat up and I turned to Tino. He looked confused and opened his mouth to speak to me again. "Are you okay? you've been spaced out for a few minutes..."
"Oh, yeah. yes. Sorry, I was just thinking about the start of the school semester, sorry," everyone seemed to accept this and they went back to their conversation. So I turned to my drink and decided to sneak a glance at her again, except she was still looking at me. our eyes were locked on each other and I saw her going to speak, and even though I had heard her voice before, it still sounded like pure silk.
"So, how do you know them?" she was staring at me so deeply. Just watching me waiting for my answer, I swallowed the spit building up in my mouth before glancing away.
"I've been friends with Tino and Olive for a long time, what about you? This doesn't seem like your usual scene," I looked back at her and she smiled before nodding toward a girl two seats away.
"I know Kim, she makes me go out to socialize every once in a while, despite me protesting every time" I glanced at Kim and smiled to myself, Kim was nice. I liked her and I thought she was pretty smart.
"How come you've never come to hang out with us before?" I said, looking back at her, it was hard to make eye contact with her, but I figured it was better to blush than to seem rude and keep my eyes off her.
"I just moved here for college, I used to live a bit further, plus Kim couldn't force me to come to a party that was 6 hours away from where I lived '' She glanced at Kim again, but then looked back over, a smile still planted on her face.
"Well, then does that mean that you'll be coming along from now on?" I asked, smiling as well/
" I guess I will, I don't have an excuse to give, but it'll be nice to get some more friends. How long have you lived here? Like, how long have you known the group? " She asked
"My whole life, but I was homeschooled up until high school, so freshman year I met Tino in drama and he kinda took care of me, which meant that I was introduced to the group." I smiled a bit at the memory, Tino had essentially forced me to talk to him and then pulled me along, we ended up having 4 classes together that year,
"Ah, I don't know much about Tino, but from the looks of it, I wouldn't expect you guys to be close" She looked over at Tino, watching him for a second which in turn made me look over at him as well.
I and Tino had always just clicked, it was easy when I would just listen to him ramble and he would only stop to ask if I could keep up. We had kind of just been a duo since freshman year, even if we had a whole group of friends that we could go and hang out with. It had always been Gaby and Tino, which had been a problem whenever either of us tried to go out and start dating. No girl likes when her boyfriend would cancel plans to see his girl best friend. I never asked him to and at points, I had even tried to distance myself so that I wouldn't cause problems, it never really worked and then we were back to square one.
