"That was not the start of our relationship. I was right when I thought that V wouldn't remember anything about that night. Instead, she woke up with such a bad headache she thought she was going to die. I still haven't said anything." I sighed as I spoke to Eunjin.
He watched me for a second before taking a bite of his ice cream and shrugging, "Drunk people say stupid things, maybe she meant it, maybe she didnt. I'm betting on the second though."
I frowned and leaned back against my chair. He was probably right, but that wasn't something I was ready to accept. "Well, ugh, maybe youre right. I'm just scared, what if I'm chasing after a girl who will never feel the same way I do? And then if me and her never click together, what would I do? Leave my friend group so I dont have to see her or stay but be miserable the whole time?"
"I don't understand why those are your only options. Why don't you just talk to her and tell her what happened?" I looked back up to meet Eunjin's eyes. He stared back, blankly and then shrugged. "Either way, shes going to notice that you've been avoiding her."
"Yeah, I guess I can try to talk to her today," I let my spoon drop and leaned back on my chair, "what are you doing for Thanksgiving break?"
"I don't believe in Thanksgiving, but I'll probably go see my friends in Vegas, probably stay with them for the break."
-------------
After meeting with Eunjin, I went around the mall to shop for some Christmas gifts, the friend group had a Christmas dinner and exchange on the 16th before we all left for the holidays, so I didn't have much time left until we gave the gifts away. I had most of the gifts, but I had been struggling with what I should get V, I knew her pretty well now, but with the short time that we had been friends, I didn't know what budget would be friendly but not obsessive.
An hour after shopping, I found the most gorgeous pair of earrings, they were small gold studs with a small diamond in the center. They were perfect for her a little on the pricey side, but it wasn't too far off from what I had gotten/made for my other friends. I finished my shopping and then made my way back to our dorms, V was in the kitchen with Kim and Tino.
The three of them turned before Kim laughed and looked over at me, "How much did you spend in 2 hours?"
"What can I say? My shopping addiction gets worse around the holidays," I wink at her before making my way into my bedroom to drop off the gifts I had gotten. I quickly changed into loungewear so I could make my way out. We were having a movie night in our dorm with most of our friends.
"Alright Gaby, help us break this tie, are we doing a Harry Potter marathon or Hunger Games" Tino called out from the kitchen, I walked over and started pulling out sodas from the fridge.
"We've done both of those before, haven't we?" Tino came over to grab the drinks and take them to the living room. I saw him shrug before someone knocked on the door. I walked over to open it and was greeted by around half of the group. They were holding multiple bags and had essentially rushed into the house.
I took myself back into the kitchen to help set up snacks for the long night we were going to have. I helped Wes and Aaron unpack the bags and cut up the fruits they had brought. We took the rest of the snacks into the kitchen and stayed there to help set up the blankets.
"So, how are you and V?" I gave Aaron a slight glance before I continued to chop up the pineapple.
"What are you talking about?" I heard him sigh next to me, "What? There isn't anything going on."
He laughed and looked outside the kitchen to see if V was in earshot before he turned to me again. "Look, I dont know what happened that night, but ever since, you seem like a lost puppy."
I looked at him for a few minutes, "well, that night-"
"Hey, do you guys need any help?" V walked in and leaned over my and Aaron's shoulders to see the progress of the fruit.
"Yes, actually, can you just wash those grapes?" I asked, she nodded and reached around me to grab the bag. I felt myself blushing after feeling her arm practically around my waist. The delusions were getting to me.
We finished cutting the fruit just as the rest of our friends got here. At the time we were all in the kitchen, Tino and Kim had decided we would be watching the worst horror movies they could find. At some point, we had gone from bad horror movies to bad movies in general. I got up after the 3rd movie to make more popcorn. I put the popcorn in the microwave and saw V coming into the room as well.
"Hey," she said as she threw away some wrappers and grabbed more napkins.
"Hey, how are you feeling so far?" She leaned against a counter and tilted her head. I looked back towards the microwave, I couldn't handle seeing her face looking at me so cutely.
She moved away from the counter and reached up to grab another bowl, I watched her struggle to reach so I moved to help her. I grabbed the bowl and moved to hand it towards her, only then did I realize how close we were, I could see her eyes so clearly, they were the most gorgeous shade of brown, with the smallest fragments of gold. My eyes wandered to her lips, they were slightly parted and at that moment I wanted nothing more than to reach down and kiss her again. I looked back up at her eyes, backing away slightly before handing her the bowl and moving to get the popcorn out of the microwave. We silently filled the bowls and made our way back to the living room.
After the 6th movie, we had all decided there was zero way we could get through another, so we all started to clean up before everyone went home. The clean-up went by fairly quickly, around 3/4th of the group had gone home and the other 3 had stayed as it was too late for them to make it home and be able to get to classes in the morning. V sat in the living room while I went to find extra blankets for them. I walked back and helped Wes set up the beds. I listened to what Mina, Tino, and V were talking about as I rolled out the blankets.
"But yeah, she's super excited to start school next semester, her old school was too far from family," MIna took a sip of her drink after speaking, and I heard her clear her throat, "I'm gonna be helping her move in with me. Which is great because that apartment is so lonely by myself."
Tino and V laughed, hearing her laugh made me smile, but I went back to setting up the makeshift beds, Wes looked up at them, "Now by cousin do we mean blood-related or a parents ' friend's child?"
"First cousins on my dad's side, so at least I know exactly what m living with." I turned to look at her, displaying the 'bed' we had set up for her. She nodded in approval, so I moved and stood by the doorway.
"Well, I'll be heading to bed now. Let me know if you guys need anything." With that, I made my way to my bedroom, leaning against the door sightly.
Having a new person come and join us could play out in various ways, but considering who Mina was, I wasn't worried about having someone rude. I made my way to bed, practically falling onto it. I don't know why, but I had a feeling things were going to get very interesting.
