Before we knew it the movie was over. Gordie and Chris ended up walking me home.
"Boys, why didn't we go to the pizzeria?" I asked, actually really wanting to go.
"Oh, we waited for you, but Gordie insisted that we meet you guys there..." Chris began talking till Gordie interrupted him.
"Ok Chris, enough. Come on Madeline, lets go. Bye Chris." Gordie said real quickly.
"Gordo." Chris said grasping Gordies shoulder. He took him over the the side and said to him, "You take this girl home all the time, you go home and I'll take her home." Gordie just gave Chris a stare and grabbed him by his collar then he whispered...
"Chris, I swear, don't lay a hand on her...". Chris snapped at him.
"Gordo, she's fine!" They skinned it and Gordie let go and walked home watching us carefully.
"Gordie's not the boss, I have somewhere to take you real quick." He said. I looked at him and said,
"Okay, let's go."
It was only 8, and I wanted to know where Chris was going. We walked and talked, he had taken me to a small pond. We sat on some big rocks and threw some small stones in the pond.
"So, wanna know a secret?". Chris asked. "It's about Gordie...".
"Yeah, I guess so..."
"Well, Gordie isn't treated right at home, his older brother died a few months ago. He really misses him."
"Oh, I feel really bad." I said.
"That's why we are always away and out. So he doesn't have to go home and deal with that."
I couldn't believe Gordie was treated like that. What if I was treated like that? Well I am an only child but still, what if I got treated like that? I really liked talking to Chris. It was getting dark so Chris walked me home. I fell asleep that night thinking of that "almost, halfway" kiss I got from Gordie. We only had school for a week before break. And, that week flew by. Before I knew it, it was the end of the day of the last day before break. 7th hour, my teacher stood up and said,
"Alright everyone your short stories need to be done and completed by the end of the day." I looked at Gordie.
"Hey, Gordie? What are you doing for break?" I asked, hoping that I would see him...
He responded back, "Well nothing this week, next week I'm going to my aunts house, and the last week I have nothing. We need to finish that story..."
"Okay, when I get my stupid cast off we will go up in the treehouse." I said.
"Okay sounds cool! Bye Mads!"
"Bye Gord!" I walked home alone today. Everyone was going on vacation. except me, I was gonna be alone.
