"For Holly?" I asked. Tears were welling up in my eyes. I wanted to cry really bad. Gordie had shattered me on the spot, right there. But, he didn't know he did...

"What's wrong?" Chris asked putting his arm around me.

"Hold on Chris." I said climbing back on the roof of the treehouse. "Come here." I said as he followed me up to the top.

"What's up?". He asked. I turned my head and bit my lip as a tear rolled down my face.

"Chris," I began. "It's not me..." I said as my head drooped.

"What's not you?" He asked.

"I'm not his crush..."

"Oh, yes you are! Do you like him?"

"Kinda..."

"It's okay. Sometimes that just might happen."

"I kinda like someone else though too...."

"Oh, I know who it is."

"Yeah, I like Gordie way more though." Teddy stuck his head out the window.

"Awe, what's wrong?" He said climbing up. Chris leaned over to me and whispered.

"Just hold his hand...." I punched him in the arm and smiled. "Really." Chris climbed down and Teddy sat by me and laid back on the roof and looked up. I laid back too.

"I hope your...." I cut him off.

"Just hold my hand..."I said taking a deep breath in and let my tears roll down. I placed my hand on his and he grabbed on. We laid there completely still and watched Gordie run to Hollys house.

"There he goes....." Teddy said. Gordie knocked on her door and she answered and jumped on him and hugged him. I shut my eyes and sobbed. He was breaking me apart....I felt like now every time I see him I will fall apart.

"What "deal were you talking about?" I asked not having a clue.

"Well, let's go back to the first day of school...shall we?"

"Sure."

"So you were walking up to the school and I saw you and freaked. Everyone stared at you and Gordies head flipped he said that you were his crush....."

"Wait, that was the first day of school though. We never even met."

"Let me finish!"

"He said when he saw your big brown eyes, he just knew that you were an amazing person and that you were the one for him."

"So do you think he is doing that with Holly?"

"No. I don't think so."

"What about you?"

"Well, we made a deal that we wouldn't ask you out or anything because we both liked you and if we were going to we would tell each other...."

"Oh. That's simple." We laid there for a while and talked about everything, like the world and the stars and the universe how everything was different. I saw Gordie and Holly swinging and Teddy pulled my chin towards him.

"Don't worry about it, I got a plan to fix this all. Come on let's get the boys and go home." It was starting to get really dark. We hopped down and the boys were waiting there with our stuff in there hands. I grabbed them and we all walked home.

"Maddy, you know you don't need to worry..." Teddy said hugging me. I smiled and walked home. Vern and I went one way and the other two went the other.
