You Found Me

Chapter 10

I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off. I turn it off and roll over to an empty bed. Did Meghan leave already? I sit up and see a note on her pillow.

I'm so sorry to have left before you woke up. I was paged into an emergency surgery this morning and had to get to the hospital ASAP. I had a great night with you. Can't wait to see you soon. I'll call you later

Well it sucks to wake up without her but I understand. I get myself out of bed and begin to get dressed. We had an important dinner at the zoo tonight for elephant conservation. We are hosting a dinner to raise money for a new elephant barn and to send money to a reserve we sponsor in Africa. I grab my suit dreading having to wear it. Dressing up has never been my thing.

"You look happy today" Loren smiled as I entered the barn. I nod I guess I am a little happier than usual. "Well Meghan stayed over last night so that was nice" I explain. Loren cooed "Ahhh...finally got to see her naked now you're head over heals huh?" I laughed and told her how the night really went but she didn't believe me. "Where is your suit? Did you forget it?" She scolds me. I chuckle at her outburst and tell her it's in my car so my clean suit doesn't smell like a barn later at dinner.

Around lunch I go to the ball room the zoo has to help set up for tonight's event. I feel my phone vibrate so I check it to see Meghan had texted me. She was hoping she could see me tonight. I sadly tell her I have this event and will be at the zoo until at least nine o'clock tonight. I go back to work picking up tables and moving them to the designated spots. My phone is now ringing so I quickly answer it "Is it a closed event or can I buy a ticket to this thing" Meghan asks. I can't help but smile at how badly she wants to see me.

"I do have a plus one. I would've asked but I know you worked today so I didn't want to bother you last minute. It is a black tie event. Do you have something you could wear" I asked. She told me she has a dress she could wear and she could meet me at the front doors at six thirty. I smiled into the phone "I can't wait to see you tonight. Thank you for coming." I hang up the phone and help Loren finish making the assigned seats for the board members and their guests. "So is Meghan coming tonight then" Loren asks.

I nod and tell her she is. She gets excited and puts her seat right next to Meghan's. "Don't question her to death please" I beg her. Loren rolls her eyes at me and informed me she would never do that. I thought on it more "Also don't tell her embarrassing stories about me." Loren scoffed and asked what she is allowed to talk about "Anything but no embarrassing stuff" I laughed. It was soon time to close up the elephant barn. Loren and I give out the evening meals and then locked the elephants inside for the night.

I took my shower really quickly and got dressed so that Loren could have more time to get ready. I came out of the bathroom in my suit and tie with my hair up in a ponytail showing off the undercut I got recently. My suit was black on black because in my opinion it looks best on me. "Oh damn" Loren cat called out to me. I couldn't help but blush a little "This okay" I asked. Loren smiled at me knowing I am genuinely self conscious "You look hot babe." I give her a hug and go sit on the couch in the barn until she's done. I'm so happy we have a shower in the barn it is so helpful for events like tonight.

Loren comes out in a red strapless dress and high heels. "You..um...you look beautiful" I smile at her. She blushes a little bit now "Let's get this thing over with." We walk to the ball room together and go over our speeches on the way. I'm so nervous because I'm really not great at public speaking. Loren always says I'm great but I think that's because she doesn't want to do the keeper chats with the public.

We approach the front and I spot Meghan standing at the entrance in a black dress with a slit up the side revealing her toned thigh. She has on black diamond studded high heels and a thin black lace scarf draped over her shoulders. My heart speeds up as she finally makes eye contact with me. She looks me over from head to toe and suddenly I feel uneasy under her gaze. Does she hate the suit? Does she like it?
