You Found Me

Chapter 3

I'm currently rushing around my house trying to get myself showered and dressed. I accidentally slept in until 10:30 so I have only an hour to get ready before I need to leave to get Meghan. I quickly finished showering and got dressed in blue jean's, a white shirt, and my brown leather jacket.

I was putting ice packs in the cooler when I hear a knock on my door. I am annoyed because I am running out of time! I open the door to Allie who is holding flowers "Seriously Allie? I'm busy right now. I'm leaving for a date!" She frowned "Oh... I'm sorry. I just wanted to catch up and well.....I don't really know." Annoyed I tell her to leave as I close my door and continue getting ready to leave.

Fifteen minutes later I'm out the door and quickly text Meghan that I'm on my way. A short ten minute drive and I'm at Meghan's house. I get out of my car and carry the flowers I bought to the front door. I ring the doorbell and anxiously wait for her to open it.

When she opens the door I am amazed by how beautiful she looks! She has black pants on, black boots, and a red sleeveless blouse. "You..you look nice. These are for you" I hand her the flowers. She smiles "You look nice too. Thank you for the flowers. I'm going to put them in water before we go. Come on in."

I enter her house and it's beautiful! It's rustic like a lodge! "I love your house! It's amazing...I like rustic home decor" I spoke. She thanked me and grabbed her bag "Ready" she asked. I nodded and followed her to the door.

"So where are we going" she asked. I smiled "I hope you like animals because we are going to the zoo." She got super excited "I've always wanted to go but nobody would go with me!" We soon pull into the zoo and I park in the employee lot "Nice to work here...we get in for free and today I'll have you meeting some animals up close and personal."

I left my car unlocked so Paula, the caterer, can get the groceries out of my car. We begin walking around the zoo taking our time and enjoying the gorgeous weather! "How long have you worked here" she asked. "Five years now. I used to live in Maryland but took this job and moved out here" I replied.

"So you're a pediatric surgeon right? How did you decide to do that" I asked. She said she loves kids and decided to make her career trying to save them. She's very passionate when she talks of her work, it's cute! "Do you want kids" I asked. She nodded "Yes. Do you?"

"Yes. I'm scared to be a Mom...but I think a lot of people are" I responded. We were getting close to the giraffe building and she completely fell in love with our matriarch, Mary. "Would you like to meet and feed her" I asked. She smiled widely "That'd be awesome!"

We made our way into the giraffe house and Alan met us at the gate "Welcome. Come on in and we will get Mary inside for you guys" he spoke. I helped her up onto the platform so we could see Mary eye to eye. Soon Mary came walking in and I thought Meghan was going to cry "She's so beautiful" she barely spoke.

Alan then gave her the background of Mary's life and told her of all these random facts as Meghan fed her. Soon it was time to move on "Thank you so much for letting me spend time with her Alex. I loved it very much." He smiled and assured her that it was his pleasure. "See you later Alan. Thanks for everything" I spoke as we left the giraffe house.

Meghan was so pumped up after we left the giraffes "That was awesome!! Thank you so much" she said giving me a hug. "If you're up for it there is one animal I'd love for you to meet. She's the center of my world here" I asked. She nodded and followed me to the elephant barn.

When we entered the barn Loren approached us and I introduced them to one another. "Wow. You weren't kidding Korie..she's stunning" Loren spoke. I instantly turned red "I'm going to go get Dolly. Can you explain to Meghan our safety lines on the floor?"

I grabbed the fruit I bought for her and went to get her. Loren kept explaining to Meghan that the yellow tape is where an elephant can reach you and for her not to step there for safety. I then returned with Dolly walking slowly behind me. Meghan's eyes lit up when she saw us enter the barn.

"This is Dolly. She's our newest African Elephant here. She was rescued from a circus. She obviously was abused hence the scars...but she's recovering well and loving her new home here" I spoke. I then began doing her training "tricks" and Loren explained that I was the only one she'd let near her and gave facts about elephants to her.

I soon dismissed Dolly and she made her way back out into the yard. "Well it was lovely meeting you Meghan. Hope you guys have fun" Loren said before we left the barn. "This has been so fun! Thanks so much for bringing me here" Meghan said as we finished viewing the zoo. "Of course. If you're not tired or sick of me yet I'd love it if we had dinner and maybe a movie" I asked.

She smiled and my heart nearly stopped "I'd really love that! But can I change first?" I began to stutter "Oh..uh..okay great. Follow me and I'll get your stuff from the car." I quickly changed into black pants and a button up shirt showing a bit more of my more masc side. Then I waited for her to come out of the bathroom. When she came out my jaw dropped. She had on a beautiful red dress and black high heels "Wow. You look beautiful." She blushed and took my hand as we made our way to the little lakeside pavilion and I could tell she was surprised by the set up!

Loren and I hung string lights, had candles on the table, flower petals everywhere, and soft music playing. Paula stood idly by waiting for us to be seated. "I do hope you like pasta" I said as I pulled a chair out for her. She appeared to have tears welling up in her eyes "I live off of pasta." I took my seat across from her and Paula approached our table "Good evening. Please browse the menu and I'll be right back."

I let Meghan look over the menu and I just stared at her in awe "What" she asked breaking my concentration. "Are you sad" I asked having had noticed her teary eyes. She chuckled adorably "No..of course not! I just..this is amazing Korie. Nobody has ever done anything this romantic for me." I smiled "Well I wanted to do something really nice for you. And this was the best I could come up with."

"The best you could come up with? This is seriously amazing. I love it" she said resting her hand on top of mine. I smiled at the shock of her touch. It sent goosebumps up my arms "Are you ready to order" Paula asked. We nodded and both ordered the seafood alfredo and a glass of pink moscato wine.

We talked about random things as Paula cooked a wonderful meal for us. "Mmm..this was a delicious meal Ms. Paula. You're the best" I said giving her a generous tip for helping me out tonight. I then turned my attention to Meghan and brought out the movies for her to pick what she wanted. "I have to go with Jurassic Park. But where are we watching it" she asked looking around. "You're after my heart. That's my favorite movie" I said. I then took her hand and led her into the field where we set up a blanket with giant fluffy pillows, a lantern, cheesecake, and more wine.

"You've really thought of everything" she said facing me now. I told her I wanted this to be a day to remember regardless of where this takes us. She then stepped forward and planted the sweetest kiss I'd ever had on my lips! "I don't think I'll ever forget this. You're so sweet Korie" she said taking her seat waiting for the movie to start.

I put the movie in and then took my seat next to her on the bean bags and covered us with some blankets. She then scooted closer to me and cuddled up. I rested my head on top of hers and watched my favorite movie with this amazing girl! I couldn't really focus on the movie with her touching me...but I loved every second of her being close to me.

The movie ended and I took her home. I walked her to her front door "Korie I can't thank you enough. This was without a doubt the best date ever! Thank you" She said staring up at me as I was slightly taller than her. "You're welcome. I had an amazing time with you. Can I see you again soon" I asked. She stepped closer to me and stared up at me "Please?" I couldn't take it anymore she is just so beautiful! I cupped her cheek and pulled her in for a kiss. It was earth shattering and soft. We finally break the kiss and both of us out of breath said "Wow".

"I.. I'll call you tomorrow" I said getting ready to leave. She smiled "I can't wait!" I waited for her to get inside before I walked back to my car. I then had to go back to the zoo to clean up the stuff from our date. I arrived home by 10:00 and couldn't stop thinking about Meghan. She's truly the most amazing woman I've ever gone a date with.
