You Found Me

Chapter 12

"Did you have a good day with Meghan yesterday" Loren asks as we are prepping diets for the elephants. I nod and tell her that we had a great day together and that I'm definitely falling hard for the girl. "Awww...Korie I absolutely love Meghan. She's the sweetest person and she is obviously crazy about you" She tells me. I tell her I was thinking of asking Meghan to go on a trip with me and I was thinking it would be romantic to tell her I love her for the first time somewhere memorable.

Loren gazes at me "Who knew my sister is such a romantic?" I laugh "I'm not that romantic. I just really enjoy planning nice things for people I care about." She then reminds me of the first date I had set up for Meghan and how romantic that was. I understand where she was coming from on that one because I did a lot of work for our first date. I just really wanted to impress her.

At lunchtime I text Meghan asking her how her day is. She responds telling me she's been really busy today with appointments and that she feels tired. I feel bad thinking maybe she didn't sleep well at my house or something. I apologize for her having a rough day and ask if she didn't sleep well at my apartment. She then called me and I instantly pick up. "Hey. No it has nothing to do with sleeping at your place. I slept great last night with you. Just mentally tired today I think" she explained.

I smiled relieved that she likes sleeping over with me. "So I was thinking if you are able to take some time off soon that we could go on a trip together for a few days" I asked. There was silence through the line and when I went to ask if she was still there she just said "I have to go" and hung up quickly. She probably has an emergency that she needs to attend to. "So what did she say about the trip" Loren asks. I tell her I didn't get an answer yet since she had to go suddenly.

After work I didn't really feel like cooking for myself so I stopped and got some Taco Bell. One of my guilty pleasures as far as fast food is concerned. I get home and started watching an old movie I used to watch as a kid called Grumpy Old Men. It is a comedy about two frenemies in Michigan who fight over a woman in hilarious ways. After I finished eating I threw some laundry in and took a shower. After getting out of the shower I hear a knock at the door and I hurry to get dressed and open it to see Allie standing at my doorstep once again.

I roll my eyes "Why can't you just leave me alone?" She exhales "Good to see you to." I smirk "What do you want Allie?" She asks if she can come in and in tell her no and that we can talk right where we are. "Fine. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for what I did to you. I know I hurt you and that I have no chance in getting you back. But I just wanted you to know that I love you deeply still and would die for the chance to have you back. I made the biggest mistake of my life and I regret it everyday."

I see movement from behind Allie and break eye contact with her to make eye contact with Meghan. I was shocked to see her as I wasn't expecting it. I smiled at her and she returned it as she continues walking towards Allie and I. "Allie you're right you did hurt me. And it took me a long time to even date again. But now I have something really special with my girlfriend. I appreciate the apology for what you did. But I will say we will never be getting back together. I loved you a lot and I just want you to know that I forgive you. I'm moving on and so should you."

Meghan kisses my cheek as she walks past us and into my apartment. "Okay. Thank you for acknowledging me this time at least. Have a good night Korie. You deserve to be happy and I'll stay out of your way" she holds her arms out for a hug. I hesitate for a moment but I do give her a hug goodbye. Once she walks off I go into the apartment to be tackled into a hug by Meghan. "Hey beautiful. I'm glad to see you" I hug her tight.

"I'm so sorry I basically hung up on you earlier" she said. I kiss the top of her head "Meghan don't worry about it. Your work is important and I understand that." We sit down on the couch "Earlier you asked me about going on a trip together?" I nod and tell her I wanted to know if she'd like to go away with me sometime soon if she can and she immediately says yes. I laugh "Okay...where do you want to go?"

She ponders it for awhile "How about San Francisco?" I have never been there before "That sounds like a lot of fun. When would be a good time for you? I can request off anytime." She tells me she could do it in two weeks to give enough notice. I tell her that works perfectly since next week I will be watching Loren's kids for her while her and Kevin get away for a little while. "Awww you're watching them? That's so sweet. Will I get to come and meet them too" she asks excitedly. I tell her if she wants to she's more than welcome to come over and meet them. I know Loren won't mind anyways.

"I have a music gig on Friday night. I don't know if you're working or not but I know a girl that can get you free tickets and cover into the club if you'd like to come and bring your friends or something" I tell her. She smiles "I wish I could but I have to work that night." I tell her it's alright and that I can always give her a mini private show at home. "It is quite sexy seeing you up on the stage though" she steps closer and whispers in my ear "Especially now that I know that you're mine."

My face heats up at her whispering in my ear. I don't know why but my ear is a weak spot for me and she goes for it every time. "So you're not upset Allie was here" I ask. She shakes her head "Korie I know she wants you back but I can see clearly that you don't want her back. If I thought otherwise I might be more jealous or upset but I feel like there isn't a reason to be." I don't say anything to her response at first "Unless I should be worried."

I pull her onto my lap from where she was sitting next to me "The first year I wondered if I'd take her back if she ever returned. Back then I still loved her so much I probably would've tried." I wrap my arm around her waist and lift her chin to look at me "But two years after Allie broke my heart I met you. You came along and opened my heart up again. I am absolutely crazy about you and I will never do anything to intentionally mess what we have up. I like you way too much to screw this up."

She pulls me into a kiss and we make out for what seems like forever but in reality was only like five minutes. "Well I do have to go to my place tonight. I am out of clean clothes but I wanted to see you tonight and discuss the trip" Meghan explained getting off the couch. I sigh at her having to leave but I understand why she must go. "Can I see you tomorrow" I ask. She smirks "I work a half day tomorrow so I think we can arrange that." I walk her to the door and wrap my arms around her waist "Goodnight Meghan. Drive safe and let me know when you're home." She leans in and kisses me deeply and whispers goodnight as she hugs me tightly. I watch her leave and close the apartment door. I exhale and smile to myself knowing that she wants to go on the trip with me.
