Terry
I was all about the business. A no nonsense tough tour manager that was called in when a group was known to be too rowdy or not serious about the fact that they were actually here to work.
Terry Fields. The demon tour manager from hell.
'
I had heard horror stories about Fall Out Boy on the road. Patrick Stump slept all day, Andy Hurley randomly disappeared, Pete Wentz was a serial prankster and Joe Trohman was a newly divorced man with a penchant for partying hard and being an all-out idiot.I was anxious as the first tour bus pulled up. The second one followed outside their first venue. The third housed their tour crew. I watched as Pete and Patrick piled out of the first bus and Joe and Andy out of the second. They all had shades on and looked like what you would expect your average rockstar to look like... from far.
Up close, they looked like a group of guys with tattoos who thought they were the cool kids and could get away with anything. I was about to give them a serious reality check.
Joe was the first to talk. "I thought she was a demon? She looks hot."
I didn't think I was hot. I was all business. My black hair up in a high ponytail with a pair of black pants, heeled boots and a button up black blouse. I wore minimal and dark make-up so it was apparent I was to be feared and intimidating. And this guy thought I was trying to look hot? He was about to get a major wake up call.
"Hello gentleman. My name is Terry Fields. I am the new tour manager for your state-wide AB/AP tour and I am here as a last resort. You have gone through four tour managers since your return from hiatus and your management has had enough. I am a strict tour manager, you will probably hate my living guts and curse me to death every night before you fall asleep. And you will fall asleep at a reasonable hour and wake up at an hour that is reasonable - Mr. Stump - and there will be no exceptions to the rule except for Mr. Wentz for obvious reasons."
"Yeah, you were right. She's a demon."
I smirked. "There are also going to be harsher restrictions on alcohol intake and the usage of not so legal substances."
Patrick stepped in on this one, "okay Terry, I can understand you're here to sort out some problems our managers think we have but you also can't tell us what to do. We're men over the age of 30 and you aren't our mother, older sister, wife or girlfriend."
"Yes Patrick, you're quite right. I am neither of those and you are grown men yet you have not acted as such. That's why I was brought in. Are there anymore complaints? Because I couldn't be bothered if there are."
Andy raised his hand, "do I have to wear a tracking monitor because of always disappearing?"
I chuckled, "no Mr. Hurley. It's been figured out that your disappearances are linked to your eating preferences. In that van along with my luggage is vegan friendly snacks and I've already located vegan bistro's for you. But you do have to have your phone on and be available. I'll be sending you all a group text once we hit the road so you can have my number. For this leg of travelling I'll be on Andy and Joe's bus."
"Ah shit!" Joe exclaimed.
Very soon, we were packed and ready to hit the road with a grumpy Joe and a contently full Andy. It was nice having at least one of them like me.
