"So what is this IVC thing? Some kind of fancy person convention?" You guessed while the gilded gold elevator brought you stories down to the lobby.
"Something like that," he smirked, amusement filling his eyes. "Stands for International VIP Convention, held by the owner of the hotel—Eisuke Ichinomiya. Every night over the weekend there is a ball, but on Saturday they do something special. Something only the elite know about—"
"And let me guess, you got the invite?"
"I've had an invite every time for the past eight years, sweetheart," he totted.
Of course.
You didn't ask what the event was, you actually liked the constant surprises and not knowing what to expect. You also got the sense that he liked it just as much, liked wowing you with his surprises. Seeing how your face lit up in wonder every time.
"Anything I need to know before we go in?" You peaked up at him, taking note you were almost at the ground floor.
"Nope. I just hope you like mindless business chatter," that answer made you look at him properly, brow quirked to display your bafflement.
"If you don't enjoy it why do you come?" You were genuinely curious.
"It's good for keeping up connections but I came this time mostly because you're with me," he answered as if it were the most simple reason of all.
Not that he was willingly including your in his business life, though you were sure he was fully aware of that. He was a perceptive man, he knew what he was doing. You just weren't used to it, Dohyun staunchly kept you away from his work unless it was to taste his bosses product.
"Just pretend you're interested in whatever they're saying, we'll have dinner and then you're mine for the evening, got it?" His raised brows, giving you a look that dared you to deny him— it took you straight back to your first meeting.
Dark, tempting, smug. You could see it all in his eyes then, and you could see it now too. Enough that you had to bite back your grin while nodding.
"Yes sir," you addressed him with a glint in your own eyes and he looked away; exhaling.
You were growing so used to that simple gesture, where he'd look off into the distance and chortle because you'd said something daring that took him by surprise. You wondered if he knew how good he looked doing it, or how deep and sexy the soft hiss he let out sounded.
"I know that look baby, but I'm afraid you're gonna have to wait," he smirked once he'd redirected his gaze onto you, holding your chin up with his forefinger.
Silently you nodded, unable to break away from his eye contact, even when he placed his thumb against your lips and you kissed it softly.
"Good girl," after a moment to commit the sight of you looking so wondrously innocent, despite the plans you were making, into his memory he looked away.
Then the lift stopped and he placed his hand respectfully on the small of your back to show you out. Down the grand staircase back to the lobby, you found there was already a sizeable mass of undoubtedly rich attendees milling around or trying to get a shot from the paparazzi crowding the door and windows.
You just tried to keep your nerves in check when you joined them; shoulders squared, back straight, and head held high. There were a few gasps from women as you passed, while the men whispered amongst themselves with all their eyes following you into the ballroom located beside the reception area.
"Famous here too?" You whispered lowly but he kept his gaze straight ahead, stoping near the door to take a glass of champagne from a waiter for each of you.
