Lucy pov- it's my 5 month scan today! I am so excited to find out wether I'm having a son or a daughter. Either would be amazing. However, my appointment is at 3:25 pm and it's currently 9 am, I have plenty of time. I slept in and I've just finished breakfast. Brian left early this morning for a job interview. He's planning on being a maths teacher. Well good luck to him! I wonder how he can do it. He's there for me at every minute of the day and yet he still manages to have band practice, college classes and has a job. Hopefully he'll be able to quit his current job if he gets that one today. That would be wonderful, because he really deserves it so much. I don't know what I'm going to do though, because I can barely get up off the sofa at the moment, never mind attend college. I reckon I'm going to have to quit though, because I've already missed so much and I would've failed my exams anyways. I stand up and put my bowl in the sink and walk through to the living room and plop down on the sofa. I turn on the TV and rub my belly. I close my eyes and listen to the monotone voice of the news reader, telling the UK what we already know. The main story of today is that the Beatles officially split up yesterday. Poor Brian was terribly upset. I mean, if you'd spend all your teenage years lying on the floor, listening to Beatles records, you'd be upset. I certainly did that and now I'm completely heartbroken that they broke up. But as I said to Bri, I reckon that his band will be the big deal of the seventies. Not that I'm biased or anything 😂 but they are just so good. The way they all play together is just amazing. I've been lucky enough to sit in on some of their rehearsals. They are just so amazing and I'm engaged to the guitarist. And, y'know im also pregnant with his child. I'm just thinking about how good my life is at the moment, when the front door opens and closes.
"Hello" Brian says, poking his head round the door, grinning. I sit up and pay the sofa next to me. Brian takes his satchel off, along with his jacket, dumps them on the other chair and sits down next to me, draping his arm round my shoulder.
"Well then.. how did it go?" I ask my fiancé who is clearly trying not to absolutely burst.
"Well.. I don't think I did that well. No. In fact, I did EXCELLENT AND I GOT THE JOB!!" He exclaims, finally able to breathe again. I throw my arms round him and kiss him gently on the cheek.
"Sweetheart, that's absolutely amazing. Good for you! Uh I feel so proud" I say dramatically. Brian pulls me into his arms and kisses my forehead and rubbing my belly.

**6 hours later**
We're sitting in the maternity ward waiting room in our nearest hospital. It's 3:20 and I'm due my scan in 5 minutes. I am so nervous, in a good way obviously, but I think Brian can sense this as he takes his hand in mine. Around five minutes later, a nurse comes into the waiting room and calls
"Lucy Watts?". Myself and Brian stand up and follow her through the department until we reach a room with a green sign reading 'maternity ultrasound'. The nurse opens the door and inside is a machine with a small screen attached to it somewhere. The nurse asks me to sit on the bed, covered in what you could call nothing else but tissue paper. She asks me some questions about my previous scans and about my pregnancy so far and I answer fairly easily. She then asks me to lie back and roll up my shirt a little bit. I do so and she squeezes some cold jelly like stuff on my stomach. I take hold of Brian's hand and squeeze it. The nurse puts her roller thing on my stomach and I move my eyes up to the wee screen. There appears a smallish white peanut shape on the screen. I hear a thumping sound coming from somewhere.
"That's your baby's heartbeat" the nurse says, smiling. I grin up at Brian and he looks from me to the screen in complete awe. I notice he's got some tears in his eyes.
"Are you okay, love?" I ask my fiancé. He nods, tears running down his cheeks.
"Yeah. I am. I just can't believe that we actually made that. That tiny little human." He says, squeezing my hand.
"So, do you want to know the sex of the baby?" The nurse asks, looking at the screen and then back to us. We both nod eagerly.
"Okay then. Well, congratulations. you're having a little Girl!"
