Chapter Four

Gage

She handed me the letter, my hand brushed against her before she pulled away. She blushed as she stepped back to the bed frame. I wonder if she did remember, maybe she just didn't want to tell me. Maybe it was weird for her but maybe she really didn't remember, maybe she didn't want to remember. Maybe our time together just wasn't worth it.

I read the letter Nadia handed me, this lead was worth it, there was a photo of Jase and it was new, he now had a beard and a couple gray hairs. So it was recent, the lipstick stain was also recent, it smudged when I rubbed it. "We'll go together." I said, tucking the letter into my shirt pocket.

"It says to come alone." She pushed her beautiful blonde hair back behind her ear. She always did that when she was confused. It was one of the thing's I loved about her.
"I don't care what it says, you're not going alone." A quick flash came from the window. We both turned to look, I got up and went to look out the window. A few seconds later a loud bang came from the sky. I turned to look at Nadia, her hair fell and her eye's were frantic. When we first met she was scared of thunder. It was loud and reminded her of the crash. Her breathing picked up. I went to her and grabbed her hand, "Bee" another boom, she started shaking. "Bee, hey it's alright I'm here. It's just thunder, you're safe." I picked her up and laid her on her bed. She used to have panic attacks everyday when she first woke up.

I was the only one who could get her to stop. I sat next to her and ran my hand up and down her back. It was only a matter of minutes before she was asleep. After a panic attack she always fell asleep. It didn't matter where, it didn't matter when. I remember there was this week she fell asleep in the lawn chair by the pool. Elijah and I pushed her and the pool and she got so mad. After that I took her out to eat at her favorite restaurant. She loved the Italian bar down the street.

That day she wore a bright green dress with little white flower's all down the sides. She looked amazing, she got cold once we left the restaurant. I gave her my jacket. We watched the sunset and We walked back home. We spent the whole night watching movies in her room. It was the best day ever. That was the day I knew I was going to marry her.

"Psst Gage" An annoying voice pushed my arm "Gage, wake up." I opened my eyes to see Donny and Elijah standing over me.

"What?" Elijah took his phone out and took a photo. "Dude what the hell?"

"I'm sorry but look" he pointed next to me. Nadia was curled up with her head scattered against my chest. Her hair was a golden mess and she looked so peaceful.

"Anyway Gage, me and Elijah need help getting the pool set back up, Bella is whining." Donny's voice shook the room.

"Fuck, alright, I'll be there in a second, just get out." I closed my eyes again and just felt Nadia against my arms once again. Her fear of loud sounds was still there, maybe I could make her remember. I could make her remember everything. I carefully got out of bed and started going through her closet. It had to be in here somewhere. I finally found the beautiful green dress. I laid it on the bottom of her bed, she'll get the memo. Today was going to be perfect. I would do anything to make everything today go right. For the first time in a very long time. I walked out of that room with a smile.

"You're in a good mood today!" Vannessa said she was in the living room folding towels. Series of blue and yellow towels just kept coming from the basket. "I heard you and Nadia had a long night" She chuckled.

"We didn't do anything, In fact I didn't even mean to fall asleep but I'm glad I did. You remember that dress? The green flowery one she wore, the day I was going to ask her to make things official?" I sat down next to her and started folding with her.
