Chapter 8

Gage

"Gabriel wake up." a hiss came from the doorway. I awoke to see Vannessa standing arms crossed in the doorway staring back at me. What is with people waking me up? I sat up, I didn't realize I fell asleep, Eli was curled up next to me, oh shit. She marched up to the bed and dragged me out as Elijah woke up, "Ok, I understand that Nadia didn't remember your relationship but Elijah what happened to Donny?" She shouted. "You have a boyfriend and you have Nadia." she yelled.

"V- it's not like that. We weren't-"

"Mom!" Bella's voice came from the other room.

Vannessa looked at both of us with disgust. I thought Elijah had locked the door. "We'll talk about this later." She started to walk out of the room then hesitated "Oh, and Gage?" She turned to look at me "She remembers." with that she walked out of the room leaving me and Elijah dumbfounded by what just happened.

"I'm sorry- I didn't mean to." Elijah muttered as he got out of the bed.

"No no that wasn't you that was me. I shouldn't have fallen asleep." I looked down at my watch. It was a quarter past ten and we should be leaving soon. "I gotta go-" I said as I threw my clothes back on and hurried out of the room.

I didn't mean to do all of that I was drunk.

She knows that Nadia is the only person I love. I don't understand why she was so angry. It didn't matter right now. I shut the door behind me and started grabbing clothes out of the dresser and shoving them into a duffle bag. What did Vannessa mean by she remembers? Was I right, and she didn't want to remember me? Does she know that I know? I put my sister's letter and necklace on top of

I walked out of my room holding onto the duffle bag. Eli and Nadia stood by the door talking. What were they talking about? He didn't tell her about this morning did he? I reached down and picked up her bag, "I got it don't worry!" Elijah shifted closer to the door and Nadia stiffened. I didn't upset her did I? I have to get her alone. That's the only way I'll be able to know if she's upset and why was Elijah being weird with me too?

"Alright losers, let's hit the road" Vannessa came out of the bathroom and came over to join the group. She rushed out the door and Eli followed her. She always said that just to get us out of the door, she would never let anyone else drive with Nadia in the car.

"Bee? Can I talk to you?" I grabbed her to stop her.

"Yeah what's up Gage?" She turned around and her smile was back., her beautiful smile that was always full of hope.

"Vannessa said that you remember everything." I let go of her arm.

"Oh," she paused, "Yeah, she's right." She turned quickly and left. I brushed my hair out of my face. What just happened? I thought she would be happy if she remembered? Was our time really not worth anything to her? I tried to be my best for her, was it not enough? She was so happy with us before, did I mess something up? Maybe Vannessa told her about what she saw.

I stepped out of the house and locked the door. I didn't know a lot, but right now all I know is that these next two days are going to be the longest 48 hours of my life and Nadia just made it very clear that I wouldn't have her by my side anymore and Elijah barely spoke to me this morning maybe I wouldn't have him either.
