Chapter 8

Pinasabi ko kay Hugo sa kanilang apat na mag uumpisa na ang interview. Nadaanan ko sila while they waited at the living room papuntang dinning where I will conduct the interview. It's nice to see that all four of them obeyed my request. Lahat sila nakasuot ng business attire. Kung hindi ko lang alam ang background nila, I would've thought that they're indeed came from respectable families.

First on the list was Caleb. I figured if I deal with his smooth and cringe talk first, I can get through the interview with all of them. He, well, was different from everyone else. He possessed that appearance that could make him stick out in a crowd and was attractive in the traditional sense. He was pale in color, nearly white. His light-toned face contrasted brilliantly with his unbelievable golden-brown eyes. If you stared into his eyes for a while, you could become lost in them since they were so expressive and immense.

"Hey, Selene. Thanks for picking me first. Unang pagkakataon na magkasama tayo nang tayong dalawa lang, this excites me," he said after Hugo called him.

I flattered him so much in my head but when he speaks, everything just disappears. Dapat hindi na lang siya nagsasalita. "Leave," I sighed.

"W-What?"

"Ano ba 'to sa pagalagay mo? This is an interview. You're making feel like this is private entertainment." That made him silent for a bit.

"Sorry. Can we try this again?"

I waited a bit, then reluctantly nodded at him. Caleb took a far more serious stance, clearing his throat and straightening his shoulders.

"I apologize for my behavior, My name is Caleb Valencia. Thank you for seeing me."Kaya naman pala niyang maging pormal kung gugustuhin niya.

"Please, take a seat."

After settling on a next in front of me, I went straight to business. "First of all..."

"Sandali lang. Are we starting already? Can you slow it down a bit, Miss?" I raised an eyebrow.

 "I feel its best if we could drop the formality even just for a bit, please? Mahihirapan akong maipakita ang totoong ako kung pormal tayo," he nudge a bit of a smile.

I can't force myself to change, so I think, he has a point, so I nodded.

"Okay then, tell me, what motivated you to apply as a potential candidate for marriage into the Mortezo family?"

Caleb's face suddenly regained a positive, self-assured expression in place of the pathetic relief that had previously been evident.

Ganon ba ka inspiring ang tanong ko?

"Maraming pumapasok sa isip ko pero isa ang lamang. It's fate, Miss," he answered confidently. When I was given this opportunity, I felt like my world shifted into a whole different one. Alam kong dapat kong tanggapin ang offer or else it would be the death of me." His eyes glowed as he lowers his head to look back on that day. "Nong makilala kita, I just knew it was destined.
