A Grey World

Warning! The following poem is VERY dark!

Sorrow filled the dreadful atmosphere.

The grey world surrounding was hopeless.

Lifeless.

Silhouettes danced behind walls, fleeing the bloodshed and tyranny.

Some dragged their fingers across the walls, desperate to find a loose stone.

To find a way to escape.

Some dragged their feet as they inclined their heads.

The word "freedom" had been beaten out of them. Out of their flesh, bones, and soul.

Whipped out of their very being.

The world was colorless as another victim was slaughtered.

And no one cared.
