A crimson colored the river.
Down her spine went a shiver.
People were trampled, some crushed beneath rocks.
She ran through the chaos in her ripped socks.
The sky painted black, a red moon above it all.
Their chances of survival are growing small.
Screams filled the air, drowned out by roaring thunder.
'Will this ever end?' The girl wondered.
The creature emerged from the shadows, poor victim in hand.
She froze, was she brave enough to take a stand?
Its black skeletal body moved like a blur.
In honor of her mother, she'd get revenge on that cur.
Its mouth was parted, she was greeted with a scream.
Her ears bled as she prayed this was a dream.
It approached, its hungry eyes watched her.
In its bony fingers was a shoe that belonged to her brother.
The girl, forgetting her fear, charged; absolutely furious.
The thing tilted its head, intrigued and curious.
She grabbed a stick to impale it with, but it used its arms to shield.
The girl was thrown across the battlefield.
She ran frantically, blindly into her half - demolished house.
Covering her mouth to match the volume of a mouse.
Footsteps lit the hallway with sound, is this the end?
The creature materialized, "Hello my little friend,"
it growled sinisterly in a high voice as it smiled wide.
Her fear, she could no longer hide.
It's claws raked the air,
only missing her by a hair.
She ran and ran, but it might be too late.
Would she end up with a gruesome fate?
