One month later**
Today I am getting married to Sifiso Mkhize traditionally. I am going to be Mrs Mkhize. There are so many things that we had to do. We had the lobola ceremony a week after the proposal and went very well. My mom is literally obsessed with Sifiso and loves him so much. " You chose well my darling" my mom said when she first saw him. My dad just shrugged and said as long as I'm happy. I am literally going to wearing 2 different attires today. I'm first going to wear Xhosa attire since I am a Xhosa woman then Zulu attire showing that I am now Zulu because I am getting married to a Zulu man. Both of them were designed by my new found bestie, Itumeleng( her nickname is Itu or Tumelo) Loyiso is heavily pregnant so she will only come for the wedding ceremony which is at 10am Palesa was here since yesterday but we are just not that close anymore. She was given all herself to her man. Ziyanda, Tshegofatso and Andiswa are also all here. Their men are also here since it's their brother getting married

20 February
THE BIG DAY-- 5:30amMy alarm rings and I get up. Today is the big day. I am at Mpolweni, a small village in Petermartizburg, KZN. This is where Sifiso grew up and still 'permanently' lives. I heard some rumours that alot of people will be attending this wedding, like the whole of Mpolweni. I invited some of my employees, my whole family and my friends which are Palesa and Loyiso.
**
Itu: *singing* umakoti ungowethu
Ziyanda: ungowethu ngempela
Itu: siyavuma!
Andiswa: uzosiwashela asiphekele
Tshegofatso: siyavuma!
Ziyanda: sithi yelele yelele
Andiswa: siyavuma! We all laughed once we were done.
Itu: how are you feeling Mrs Mkhize?
Me: yoh I don't know but I'm ready for this!
Andi: yes Wena!We start bathing and cleaning the house and by 6:40am we are done.
**
The clock strikes 9:30am and it's time to start the Xhosa part of the wedding. I look so dazzling in the black and white attire with all the Xhosa jewellery and accessories. I am wearing white takkies on my shoes.
Itu: awusemhle Mrs M!
I smile and thank her. She takes some pictures then also changes into what she had to wear as my 'bride maids' someone knocks on the door.
Me: ngena
Loyiso comes in and she looks so beautiful wearing a white dress with black dots and Xhosa jewellery.
Loyiso: wow Amanda!
She walks in and I hug her.
Me: yoh pregnancy looks good on you ke sana
Loyiso: *chuckle* wena nje you have a different type of glow nje, umuhle shame!
I laugh lightly.
Me: oh I have to introduce you.. This is Itumeleng Moloi. Itu this is Loyiso Mokena
Loyiso: hey girl, you look beautiful
Itu: thanks my love.
Me: *points at each one* this is Ziyanda, Andiswa and Tshegofatso.
Loyiso: Naze nabahle. How are you guys related?
Me: we are oMakoti bakwaMkhize, but we are more than that now, we are friends.
I smile at them sweetly.
Loyiso: that's nice, how many men are there.
Ziyanda: so it's Nkosana, then Philani Andi's man, Mlondi my man then Sifiso Amanda's man which is twins with Sanele Naledi's man mara maybe you can date him coz their marriage is lifeless
Loyiso laughs
Loyiso: no thanks, I'm done with men ke sana. I'm just focusing my baby and my mental health.
Andiswa: everyone sometimes needs that but you be craving the dick!
Everyone cracks into laughter, everything was so nice and lively. Palesa was no where to be seen. It's like she's just wasting space nje lana. My mom comes in.
Me: Mommy!
Mom: ayi wena, you are wayy to old to call me that!
Me: ha ma!
She laughs lightly then comes to hug me.
Her: *whispering in my ear* I'm so proud of you Babalwa. I know that I would always shout at you for not being married whilst you were old but I have never stopped being proud of you, and I never will stop. Today is your big day. Enjoy and do your best. I give you my blessing.
Tears went down my highly beaten face, atleast Itu used waterproof makeup so it's not that bad.
Me: thank you ma. You don't know how happy I am to here that.
Mom: ayi wena dont make me emotionally!
She pulls out of the hug and wipes her falling tears.
Mom: the people are waiting for you now outside.
Mom: Go out and show them who you are.

We walked out of the house. I saw my brothers and my dads and all the other distant uncles and cousins on the right hand side, the whole of the Ndlanzi family. On the left was the Mkhize family, with Sifiso and his brothers in the front. I see him and he stares at me, oh wow but shame it has been long, it's been one whole week!
We do all the Xhosa traditions that we had to do then I dance a little with my bridesmaids then we leave. Now it's time for the Zulu ceremony. I changed into my Zulu outfit. I decided to not put any makeup just some lipgloss. My hair was in cornrows. Loyiso took some pictures of me then we left.
**
So all the Ndlanzi people were on the right hand side, we were in the yard of the Mkhize's now, it was very big. The Mkhize were at the left hand side. We first had to come in a song.( My mom, cousins and sister- the females of the Ndlanzi's) Itumeleng and the others had to watch. Ziyanda, Tshegofatso and Andiswa were standing by the Mkhize's. My mom starts the first song.
Mom: "isencane lengane"After all the singing, we went to this small hut and they call it "emsamo" after all the rituals that we had to do to introduce me to the ancestors, my mother in law put a big Zulu hat on me while singing.
Mother in law(MaZungu): Siyabonga ke makoti, sizokuqamba nje ngo Nonjabulo, ngoba ngengoba sikufike wena, kuhlezi kunenjabulo nentokozo
The mothers ululated loudly.
I danced with Sifiso and I even had to act washing his feet, some grannies were walking around acting as if they were eating and drinking something to show that I will take care of Sifiso and the Mkhize family. After all that it was 12pm, food and drinks time.--
I was walking around and thanking one of my business partners for coming and giving them some food.
Mr Daniels(business partner): the ceremony was so beautiful Mrs Mkhize
I smiled brightly
Me: thank you so much Mr Daniels, I appreciate it so much.
Mr Daniels: when do you think you will be back to work?
Me: I'm not sure, maybe in a week I'm not sure
Mr Daniels: okay, but take your time.
I heard someone call me.
Me: erm okay, I need to go now, I will come back and check on you
Mr Daniels: no problem.
**
By 4pm, the wedding was over and a few people had left however the yard was still full. I was now sitting in my room and these grannies, mothers and MaZungu(mother in law) were all advising me about marriage.
MaZungu: umshado nje akulona ijele mntanami
I was looking down the whole time.
Gog'Duduzile: ubaba wasekhaya ukufanele uhloniphe.
Gog'Nomalanga: ikhekhe kufanele uhlezi umupha
Gog'Duduzile: yebo! Njisho ukhathele ntombo!
Gog'Duduzile and Nomalanga are my favourite ngl.

Finally at 7pm I was given some time to myself. I honestly felt so exhausted and tired, my bed is literally calling me. I jumped into my bed and went straight to Lala Land.I really did enjoy my traditional wedding, tomorrow is the white wedding.
