Dylan
"Ryder where are we?" I ask as he helps me out of his new car. "This is sketchy." This is our second activity of the day, and it's noon. First, we went to a practice arena and he wanted to learn how to use a bow and arrow.
"Relax princess," he wraps an arm around my shoulders and holds my hand. "I gotchu."
I sigh in frustration but let him guide me somewhere. When he takes off the blindfold, I start laughing. He set up a picnic at the park where he dumped pink paint on me.
"You like it?" He asks with a smile. I just kiss him.
"I fucking love it Ry," I laugh into his lips. He grins and pulls me to the picnic. We lie on our stomachs on the blanket under a tree and he opens a cooler.
"Want a snack?" He takes all the food out and I stare. "Everything okay princess?"
"It's the same food as when you asked me to be your girlfriend," I breathe. "This is amazing!"
"I thought you'd like it," he grins proudly. "The boys helped a lot, and Bri." I just smile and shake my head. I cannot believe we're here right now.
I love Ryder
But we've only been together for two years. Is that too soon to say I love you? Ahh I don't know. I've also never felt this loved for by a boyfriend so it's new.
"Ryder why did you do all this?" I ask.
He sighs and sits up. Then he motions for me to go over to him and I lay my head in his lap.
"I was at school the other day and I saw two people who were the best couple. I got scared that you met someone in Chicago and I guess this is my way of showing you that I'm right here. And that I care. I care so much Dyl." He looks down at me. "Why are you smiling like that."
"Because," I laugh. "The mere thought of wanting someone else is absolutely ludicrous! It's laughable! I only want you, Ry. No one else."
"So there was nobody you met in Chicago?" I move so I'm sitting in his lap and I wrap my arms around his neck.
"No one even compares to you. It's you, baby. I only got eyes for you." I put our foreheads together and close my eyes.
"I..." Ryder trails off. "I completely forgot what I was gonna say." I giggle and kiss him. He buries his face in my neck and we continue talking and laughing for hours.
~evening~
"Dude where is Ryder I haven't seen him since we got back from the park," I try to go upstairs but Shawn stops me.
"He's just...doing something," he shrugs. Then I hear a bang outside and Ryder yelps.
"HE'S BEEN OUT THERE THE WHOLE TIME?" I yell. "GET OUT OF THE WAY SHAWN!" I try to run to the backyard but my parents hold me back and Shawn hoists me over his shoulder.
"You are going nowhere," they all say. I cross my arms as I sit down on the couch. I glare at everyone.
"You are so different since he came into your life," Jason laughs. "You two can't stand being apart."
"Neither can you and TJ!" I point out. "And you don't see me forcing y'all to be apart!"
Suddenly Reggie runs into the room. "Miss Caldwell, you're needed." He holds out a hand and we walk to the backyard. Charlie and Axel both hand me bouquets of Red Dahlias.
Is Ryder proposing? We're only teenagers dude
He's proposing. He's on one knee with a beautiful backdrop of roses and Dahlias in a heart.
"Ryder why are you proposing," I whisper.
"Not proposing yet," he laughs. "I've known you for over two years, Dylan. You are the girl that keeps me on my toes. You're the adventure I never knew I needed. So here's a promise ring," he pulls out a gorgeous ring. "I promise that I will always be with you until our wedding day. Then I can give you a real ring."
On the inside it says I Love You. I look at him with tears in my eyes.
"You do?" I ask. He stands up and puts his hands on my hips.
"Dylan Jessica Caldwell, I love you more than the stars love the moon. I love you more than the grains of sand on Earth. I. Love. You." I wrap my arms around him.
"I guess it's a good thing I love you too."
He grins and kisses me. I laugh as he swings me around yet again.
"I love you I love you I love you," he smiles and kisses me.
"I love you Ryder," I go on my toes and kiss his forehead.
Perfect end to the perfect day with the perfect boy.
