Tao and Daiyu were sitting in their fifth-grade classroom before the teacher walked in to start their morning lessons. Tao was finishing up some homework he had been holding off, while Daiyu sat at the desk next to him reading. A few of their classmates surrounded one student's desk as they looked at what he was watching.
"Hey Tao," a classmate got his attention. "Look at this."
"What is it?" Tao walked over.
"Someone is live streaming your brother fighting off some monsters," the classmate pointed to his phone.
Tao looked over his classmate's shoulder and there it was. MK was fighting off some random demons wearing thorny armor when MK noticed that he was being recorded and waved to the camera.
"You're gonna get in trouble if the teacher sees you with your phone." Daiyu didn't look up from her book.
"You're just jealous." The classmate stuck his tongue out.
"No," Daiyu looked up, "I just know the rules, unlike you."
"Unlike you," the classmate retorted back, "I know how to be fun."
The classmate had a smug look on his face, but it was pointless; Daiyu looked at him with an amused look before going back to her book and ignoring him.
"Hey," the classmate called out, "I'm talking to you!"
"Good morning class," the teacher walked in, "I want you to find your seats."
Tao, like a few other students, went back to their desks for the teacher to start her lesson. The classmate shot Daiyu one last dirty look before he faced forward in his seat.
"This morning we will have a special guest." The teacher smiled. "Mr. Tang is here to continue reading to you The Journey to the West."
The class got excited as Tang walked in a stood in front of the class, holding the storybook under his arm.
"Good morning children." Tang greeted them with a warm smile.
"Good morning Mr. Tang." The class spoke up.
"As your teacher said, I'm going to continue reading to you about Monkey King's journey." Tang adjusted his glasses. "And to make sure you're all listening; can anyone tell me where we left off?"
A lot of students raised their hands to be called on to answer the question. Tang quickly scanned the classroom to pick a student.
"How about you." Tang pointed to a demon student.
"Wasn't it the chapter where Monkey King meets Sha Wujing?" The young demon answered.
"Very good." Tang nodded and opened the book. "Where we left off was--"
Tang was cut off by something crashing into the side of the classroom, leaving a giant hole in the classroom that led to the outside, everyone was in shocked silence they all slowly turned to see what crashed into the classroom. Wukong stood up to dust himself off, unaware that everyone was looking at him.
"Dad!?" Tao spoke up.
Wukong over to see a large group of fifth graders surprised to see him, he smiled at them nonchalantly.
"Hey kids," Wukong waved, "how are you?"
The sound of a demon roaring followed by MK screaming in fear was enough to let Wukong know he couldn't stay to chat.
"Pay close attention kids," Wukong started stretching, "today's lesson is all about taking down demons."
Wukong launched himself through the hole in the classroom wall, and the kids moved over to the window to watch the battle. MK and Mei were surrounded by a group of demons in black thorny armor with one giant demon looming over the other demons. The large demon let out another roar.
"Hey ugly!" Wukong yelled.
The giant demon turned his head, and Wukong came flying at him with a kick in the face, making the demons skid across the road. Several of the demons charged at him while the remaining demons charged at Mei and MK. Mei used her Dragon Blade to charge at some of the demons holding weapons, as MK dodged their attacks.
Before MK had a chance to react, a demon charged into his side, sending him into the side of the shed.
"Ooh!" The classroom of kids winced.
"MK!" Mei kicked a demon away before running over to him. "Are you okay?"
MK sat up, rubbing the back of his head with a groan of pain. "There's too many, we're not gonna be able to--"
MK stopped himself when he picked up a jump rope, the shed was filled with items for the kids to use during recess.
"Mei," MK lit up, "I just got an idea."
Wukong had been both literally and figuratively backed into a wall as the demons surrounding him, he kept his guard up as he tried thinking of a way to get out of this.
"Monkey King," MK called out his name, "catch!"
Wukong noticed something flying towards him, he caught what MK had through at him, it was a hula-hoop he was confused until Mei and MK jumped in with hula-hoops and jump ropes.
"Recess is over!" MK declared.
"You're heading to detention!" Mei followed up.
Wukong lightly chuckled, realizing what their plan was. "Alright then, let's do this!"
The three of them charged at the demons, with the demons charging at them. After the demons were knocked around a few more times, small groups of them were tied up with jump ropes or stuck in hula hoops.
"Class dismissed." Wukong dusted off his hands as he looked up at Tao's class.
The class cheered loudly at the victory; they had once again saved the city from demons. Wukong, MK, and Mei smiled at the kids with MK and Mei waving cheerfully to them. Wukong's smile dropped when he noticed Messenger standing on the edge of the school's roof before walking away.
Wukong quickly jumped onto the roof, but the cloaked figure disappeared it was just him on the roof. Where did they go.
"Dad!" Tao ran up the staircase that led to the roof with Tang following behind him.
"Hey, Buddy." Wukong smiled as Tao hugged him.
"Is something wrong?" Tang adjusted his glasses.
"Oh, no." Wukong shook his head. "I thought we missed one, but I guess it was my imagination."
Wukong ruffled Tao's hair. "I guess my eyes were playing tricks on me."
Tao smiled as he walked with his Wukong, as he placed a hand on the upper part of Tao's back. Even though Wukong was smiling he couldn't shake the feeling that whoever they were are a threat.
