Kai Williams

-

There i am. I'm just standing here in the middle of the hallway of Summerton High School. I see the typical actions of kids getting shoved into lockers, couples basically eating each others faces.

I walk around, try to say hello to someone but no one says anything. No one even notices me.

Am i in a dream?

Nico and Lola are making their way down the hall holding hands. They turn a few heads. Nothing new. I can hear Lola's voice.

"Yeah...remember Kai?" she says to Nico.

"Oh that piece of trash? Yeah. I can't believe i dated her." He responds.

"Me neither...I'm so glad you left her low key grunge ass for me. Tell me how bad she was..." The rage inside me grew, i just wanted to knock that stupid head right off her pretty little body.

"Kai is nothing. She's ugly. Her hair is gross..." Nico's voice drowns as i start to hear other join.

"Ugly."

"Kill yourself."

"Stupid bitch."

Every eye in the building seemed to be on me now.

I shot right up to light, i could feel that my cheeks are wet.

Am i crying?

I raise my had to my cheek to wipe away tears.

Yes.

My thoughts are broken by a groggy, rasping voice.

"You couldn't yell 'no' any louder could you?"

Adrian.

"Actually i could."

"Wow, sassy already." He scoffs. "What happened?"

I quickly wipe my face with the back of my hand as i notice his figure growing closer. His hair was an adorable mess and his eyes were all squinty.

"Nothing." i reply quickly.

"Something happened. No one yells that loud at four in the morning."

There was something about him now. He was so much more kind and calm but of course he was still a bit of an ass.

"Just a bad dream." i mumble before laying back down and covering my eyes with my forearm.

"Would you like me to stay and fight away those scary dreams?"

"I don't know, would you like to?"

We both knew we wanted to stay in each others presence, but for the sake of his reputation and me still feeling completely in a state of sadness, neither of us responded to my question. Instead he ran his hand through his hair and left. Just like that. No words, no nothing.

Should have said yes...
