(Eden surname reveal cammy?)

Few people can talk to Death. Namely, abyss mages, through a means of total abandonment of the mind and body for a short period of time.

"I don't want to die." he said, staring at the ground. "It's fate." Death replied. "You cannot change it. I wrote so in the pro-"

"Enough of the prophecy! Why must a random 7,000 year old piece of paper dictate my life?!" the mage bursted out. "I don't- I'm not sure."

Death raised an eyebrow. "What are you not sure of?" she asked, gaze softening at the young lad before her.

"How do you know I won't mess up like my forefathers? You said it yourself. You may be Death but you cannot garuntee the success of things."

Death merely hummed. "That thing you must defeat is my creation. I know that you have something your ancestors lacked. I know you have the ability to defeat it. But I cannot garuntee your owm survival. It's a consequence of my mistake."

There was a silence, only broken by a hitched breath from the man. "Please," he begged, eyes once again fixated on the ground. "Please don't let me die. I have so much I still want to do..." he trails off, gripping his pants.

Death followed suit. She hated her job. This lad before her was so young, full of life, like hundreds of other lives she had to take. But what choice did either of them have? It was a punishment by the Overseer. She just wished it didn't involve people who inherited hed powers.

"I cannot do that." she replied.

A dry laugh escaped the mage's lips. "Thought so."

He looked up at her, purple eyes devoid of any light, tears threatening to spill at any second. "You know," he started. "I'm... I'm actually glad I had this fate."

Death's eyes widened in shock. In the many lives she had seen pass on, none had ever been happy. Not even those who wanted to die. "How come?" she asks.

"Think about it." the man creates illusions that danced in the palm of his hand.

"So many people could've had this path, and it landed on me. Being raised as a weapon, being born to know your life ended the second you take your first breath. Slowly getting turned into some weird abyss thing by your own body. It sucks. So I'd rather it be me than anyone else. Keepers forbid someone I love." he abruptly forms a fist and the magic flickers away.

"And besides, some people have it worse than me too. At least I have something to leave behind, some people don't have that chance. So if this is minimal pain compared to them, then HEY! Why wouldn't I take it? Less hassle more dazzle, y'know?"

"You have a noble heart, young mage."

"I have a name."

Death looks at the person who will fulfill her prophecy, the one to ultimately end the suffering her creation caused. "What is it then?"

"Eden Heinrich."

"Heinrich, huh? I've met a lot of your ancestors who also fought against my creation, and yet none of them had a mental philosophy like yours."

The mage laughed. "I guess people tend to change based on who surrounds them?"

People.

So that's why this lad was so afraid of death.

He had friends and family. He had people waiting for him.

"Thank you for your time and advice, Lady Death. I have to go now." he bows as he leaves the realm.

"I'm sorry." Death apologizes.
