It was a bomb. Thomas held a bomb in his hand, pointing it at Janson, Ava, and Teresa.

Before I focused on them, I grabbed Rye's shirt. "You better have a good story." I said through my teeth before letting go again. He just nodded and stared at me for a few seconds.

"Thomas, please stop." Teresa cried. "I made a deal with them. They promised we'd be safe. All of us."

"What was that three seconds ago then?" I muttered.

"And I'm supposed to trust you now?" Thomas questioned.

"It's true. It was her only condition." Ava raised her voice slightly.

"Shut up!" I could see the struggle in Thomas' face and felt a bit of pity. Teresa wasn't just no one to him, no matter if she betrayed us or not.

"Everything can go back to the way it was," Ava added. "Thomas... do you really want all of them to die?"

"Listen to her, Thomas," Janson ordered. "Think about what you're doing."

Minho walked over to Thomas. "We're with you, Thomas."

Without hesitating for a second, I stood by their side too. "We are."

"No." Teresa shook her head in hurt and pain. "Don't."

"Do it, Thomas," Newt added in a whisper.

"We're ready," Frypan announced quietly.

"We're not going back there." Thomas never took his eyes off the trio in front of us.

"Thomas?" Teresa stammered, scared.

Thomas took a breath and tried to control his shaking hand. "It's the only way."

Just when Thomas was about to do something, Jorge started driving again. He bumped into the helicopter, more pieces of it flying through the air.

"Get her in the Berg!" Janson ordered to one of the guards, who nodded and took Ava away, Teresa following.

"Watch out!" Thomas screamed when he got off the ground again. I jumped far away and watched Thomas throw the bomb toward some guards.

We waited a few seconds, completely tense, until the bomb went off. The explosion was much bigger than I expected it to be. The fire jumped around everywhere, hitting mostly guards. Again, I could feel the warm breeze of it on my skin before someone pulled me up.

"Jane!" Minho put his hands on my shoulders. "He's trying to get Newt!" He made a head movement toward Janson. "Flee together, I'll cover!"

"I'll help," I said in full confidence, nodding.

"No." Minho moved closer. "They'll try to get you too, Shebean."

"Sad for you." I pulled a knife out of my waistband.

Minho scoffed, a sly smirk appearing on his face. "You better do well."

"Oh, I will." I smiled and ran over to Newt, who held a gun too, yet some guards were surrounding him. I started throwing, moving in front of Newt protectively while Minho stood in front of me, shooting anyone who dared to come closer.

"Haha!" Jorge laughed loudly when he shot a guard and went on with the other ones. "Good job, mi hija!" Then he rushed away.

"It's getting a lot, guys!" I yelled when more guards appeared in front of us, Minho still shooting. I noticed Vince, who stood close to us, getting ready a big gun, then he shot. Hundreds of bullets went out, and lots of guards fell to the ground, yelling or groaning.

"Yes!" Harriet and Cyra cheered after, giving each other a slight and quick hug before they attacked too.

Suddenly a guard bumped into us all, our guns and knives dropping onto the ground. "Shit!" I screamed when they pulled us away from each other.

Minho grabbed his gun off the ground again after he managed to escape from the guard and shot him, the guards that held the us following.

"Go, go!" Minho screamed at them. "Newt, run!"

The blonde did as he was told, and so did Frypan once he escaped.

"Move, Thomas!" Minho kept on shooting guards who ran closer. They hid behind a box as I tried to grab another knife, but noticed I ran out.

"Shit!" I yelled.

"Go!" Minho ordered. "To Thomas, Jane! Now!" He shot another guard and I stayed still. I didn't want to leave. I wanted to help, but couldn't do anything.

"Jane, go!" Minho put his hand on my back and pushed me toward the other Gladers, away from the guards.

I thought Minho was right behind me, but he wasn't. He kept shooting the men, protecting us from their shots. I rushed over to the others and hid too, watching Minho closely, ready to jump in action as some people got loaded in the Berg, in case something would happen.

"No!" Thomas suddenly yelled when Minho looked at his gun. He ran out of bullets, which made a guard take his chance.

It went so fast, I didn't realize I had to do something quick enough. One of them fired the weird, electric device at Minho, the bullet hitting him right in the chest. The boy gasped, face washing over with pain as he got electrocuted. The gun dropped out of his hands and his legs slowly gave up too.

"Minho!" I yelled in a panic and got up to help him while some guards tried to get to Minho too.

I got closer to the boy, but a pair of arms stopped me by wrapping around my body. I let out a yelp and heard Jorge saying something, but was too focused on Minho, who by now bent over a box, crying out in pain. I could see how hard he tried to get up and fight back, but the only thing he could do for some support was lay on the box.

We made eye contact. His eyes were full of pain and fear. Something I had rarely seen before. My heart broke.. then I tried to fight Jorge off.

"Let me go!" I ordered at him, some tears falling down my cheeks when two guards picked Minho up and dragged him by the shoulders, slowly moving toward the Berg.

"Minho!" I screamed and looked at the lifeless boy. "Jorge! Let me- get off me!" The panic in my whole body made it all worse than it already was. "Minho!"

Minho got dragged into the Berg by the same guards as it started to close. "No!" I yelled, the tears streaming by now.

I hit Jorge on the nose with my elbow and managed to slip out of his grip. Running faster than ever before, I moved toward the Berg, but still mentally punished myself for moving too slow. Before I even got the chance to arrive or for the doors to close, it already rose into the air.

My hand reached out to the Berg, but I was too late. It was too high already. My heart shattered, me crying loudly.

What were they going to do to Minho? Nothing good. Where would they take him? Why him?

I broke down in tears, the realization of what happened hitting me. The Berg was gone.
Minho was gone.

Just at that moment, I don't know why I didn't realize it before, I remembered what Minho had said. He said he loved me.

And I never said it back.
