The Arrow Shot

~~Chapter 4~~

A blossom hit my head and I giggled. I watched a grey squirrel run up a tree and heard a fox yowl. I looked up to see an apple tree with blossom on the parts where the apples would grow. In some parts you could see where the blossom had fallen off ready for an apple to grow there.

After a brief 10 minute walk I arrived at the archery range. I was 5 minutes early to the lesson. When I looked past the trees to the targets I saw Aspen holding a bow and arrow. I wish I could be as good as them some day.

I walked over to them and clapped when they hit the bullseye.

"Well done!" I cheered.

Aspen looked over at me and looked embarrassed when they realised I was watching.

"You're early but we can start now if you want." Aspen said

"No thanks. I'm gonna watch you for a bit." I responded

I watches them repeatedly shoot an arrow at the target. If it was anyone else I know they would be bored by now. But me? I love archery. I would spend all day watching this if I could.

My lesson started and Aspen showed me how to hold the bow properly from the start. When I managed to get it I hit the target straight away. Not the bullseye though but still better than most since this was only my 3rd lesson.

After a few attempts I managed to hit the bullseye.

"Well done! You're a natural!" Aspen said probably proud that they had taught me this. "It's only your 3rd lesson!"

My face must of beamed because Aspen laughed at me. I managed to hit the bullseye a few more times this lesson before it ended.

I knocked on my door. No one answered. I looked under the doormat for the spare key and unlocked the door. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a drink. I noticed a note on the table.

To Iris,
I had to go to work but here is money so you can go and buy lunch somewhere.
From Dad

I didn't even need it to say 'from dad' to know it was from him. I can always recognise his scribble-like handwriting.

He had left me £10 to go and buy some food. As I didn't want to go alone I messaged my friend to see if she wanted to come too.

Iris: hey u wanna come to mcdonald's with me?

Emerald: sure! Who's paying?

Iris: I can!

Emerald: ok meet u there at quarter to 1

Iris: ok!

It was only a 15 minute walk there so I didn't need to leave yet. I still had 10 minutes to get ready. I went upstairs to my room and looked in my wardrobe.

"Hmmm" I said to myself "What is there to wear?"

I rummaged through my clothes and found a pair of overalls and a t-shirt. I quickly put them on and when back downstairs.
