He was training with his Rauchu until he encountered Ash and the gang attacking a Donphan. He was an old friend of Jessie, who he met in Pokemon Tech, and then he ran into her again back when she was trying out for a movie. Their final meeting was
when he went to live with his aunt when his parents passed and met her at training school for Team Rocket until he left to continue following his dream.
