I was just finished getting ready for tonight's bonfire when I say Con smoking with his feet in the pool. I went down to talk to him. Maybe he'll tell me what's been bothering him so much recently.
Conrad's POV
Emmy came down to the pool and sat next to me, taking off her heels and dangling her feet in the water. She looks gorgeous, like a princess. I can't help but stare.
"Since when do you smoke" she asks, breaking the silence.
"I don't know"
"I thought you said smoking damages the way our brains process information and that marijuana messes with white matter. You said our brains were still developing and tha-"
"Do you memorize everything that I've ever said?" I spit out.
Shit, I didn't mean to say it.
I look over to her and a look of hurt crosses over her eyes. Then as quickly as it appeared, it vanishes. She's always been good at hiding her emotions.
"Look, Em I-"
"Get over yourself" she scoffs as she stands up, puts her heels back on, and walks away.
Fuck, I've messed up.
Emily's POV
I'm hurt that Conrad pushed me away.
I was a fool for thinking he'd confide in me anyway.
I got in the car with Jere and Steven.
"Is Belly coming this year?" I ask them.
"Nah the moms are setting up for their movie night" Jeremiah answers.
I remembered movie nights with the moms. I used to go until I was about 15, then the boys started taking me out to parties and I didn't do movie nights since. I kind of missed it, but I liked the bonfire and the party to much to skip it.
I arrived at the bonfire and met up with Shayla and Gigi.
"Oh my god you look so cute!" They squealed.
"Aw, thank you! You both look stunning as usual" I replied.
"Let's go get some drinks"
"Hey" A guy approached me and Gigi and Shayla backed away mouthing "he's so hot".
