Tears spilled down my cheeks as I sat with my mom.
Susannah told us everything.
Even if I knew, it feels 'real' now that she's admitted it. And I don't think I can bear it.
"She's not going to get better, is she?" I look up at my mom, who's trying not to cry.
"No" She shakes her head and pulls me closer. We stay like that for a while until she wipes her tears away and stands up. "I'll go make dinner" She says, and kisses my forehead. I nod, wiping my tears. "I'll go down in a sec"
Susannah always been my rock. She's been through so much, and she's come out so strong. I remember how she and my mom took me to get my years pierced in second grade. She held one hand, and my mom held the other. And how she took my dress shopping for prom.
"Hi honey" I'm jolted away from my thought from a voice. Susannah comes and sits beside me and tears threaten to spill again. She's the one to break the silence.
"I am so proud of you Emily Belle Monroe. I'll always be with you, no matter what" She hugs me and a stray tear escapes my eyes.
"Don't go" I manage to choke out through my tears.
"I'm doing the trial" She tells me, smiling.
My eyes widen and I pull back. "Really?"
"Yes" She replies, and I hug her again. "I don't care what the doctors say, it'll work" I mutter determinedly.
"You're magic"
"Take care of Conrad, please" She asks. "Of course" I reply. "Oh, by the way, you guys have my complete blessing" She beams, and I laugh.
"I love you so much beautiful girl" She says, smiling.
"I love you too Susannah"

"All right, everybody down here. We still have to eat" I hear my mom voice calling us, and I stand up, smoothing out my gown.
I run into Conrad on the way and he hugs me. "Thank you for being here for me" He mumbles and I kiss him on the cheek.
We all file in and eat.
There were times this summer, where I felt like I didn't know my own heart.
But one thing I do know, is that , no matter what happens next, I will always come back to this place, and these people.

"I can't believe she said yes" Conrad says, smiling brightly as we sit a the beach. He seems happy, happier than I've seen him this whole summer.
"You did it, you changed her mind" I say, dropping my head on his shoulder. "Oh, it wasn't me. It was Jere. He did it" He says, putting an arm around me. "You know it was you" I say and smile, looking out into the waves. He chuckles softly.
"I love you" He says, kissing my head.
"I love you too" I reply, looking up at him.
"For infinity" He says, looking at my necklace.
"For infinity"
