(This is what I think happened after she climbed out of the window in mistletoe and murder, when the killer is chasing her.)
Hazel's POV:
she's done it again. My best friend and detective society partner, Daisy Wells, has gone and almost got herself killed. Again.
"Watson! I already told you, I'm fine. There's nothing for you to worry about." She seems to think that almost falling at least 10 meters off a roof isn't something to worry about. "And besides, heroines don't die."
She knows for a fact that although she is pretty and perfect and English, even she can not live forever. However she tries to hide it, even she isn't immune to dying.
I glare at her. "I'm not worried, I'm annoyed. What if you did fall? You could have died, Daisy!"
"Yes, well, I didn't."
"You could at least care! Because I know you don't think you can die but I know that you can. And I don't want to be in a world without you because you were being stupid." I immediately regret saying this, my face flushing. "Daisy, I-"
"No..Watson, you're right." She sniffs and looks down. "I suppose I may be able to see how you almost falling to your death might affect me slightly."
I was honestly taken aback. What, was she apologising? Or near enough, anyway. She seems to dislike that I am becoming bolder, ever since last year.
She must realise what I'm thinking as she quickly adds "but if I didn't, we never would have put the real killer in prison. And besides, we can't die. I simply won't let us."
It's such a Daisyish thing to say I roll my eyes.
She sticks her tongue out at me. Of course I can't stay annoyed at her for long and we both start to laugh.
"Another case solved by the Detective Society. What, is it our fifth already? We're quite good at this, aren't we?"
Next day, lunchtime
We're at Fitzbillies for those excellent Chelsea buns again. This time with Aunt Lucy and Uncle Felix as well as Alexander and George.
"Well, girls. It's evident that you can't stay out of trouble for too long." Uncle Felix raised his eyebrow at us. "But, as much as I hate to admit it, you have done an excellent job. Well done."
Daisy showed no expression at this but I knew she was beaming on the inside.
We spent the next hour pleasantly chatting and feasting on delicious sandwiches, rolls and pastries. By the end, I thought I might be sick from overeating.
We're now back on the train to Deepdean. Bertie had felt the same about Daisy climbing out of the window and hadn't held back in telling her so.
As I'm writing this in my new casebook, Daisy is looking over my shoulder and giving me looks when I write something she dislikes. It's not very subtle.
I honestly can't wait to get back to school, after all, and I'm totally prepared for a normal, relaxing term. With no murders, although Daisy is making it clear she doesn't agree.
